Hey folks! So many lovely people have asked for the chords to this song - here they are! Lyrics only included for the chorus, otherwise ya get a blank lead sheet. I sometimes play in E Minor, sometimes in F Minor. Depends on the mood I'm in www.dropbox.com/s/1l0c7k1fq6pxgr7/Daloy%20Polizei%20(blank%20lead%20sheet).pdf

Nice work Jacob. I'm just discovering some Yiddish militant songs, and Dalloy polizei speak the most to me especially since the recent actualities in Brussels and Belgium ( several local youngsters of color, a 2 year old daughter of immigrants and an undocumented person who all died in policy custody/intervention in a few years time)... This deserves a localized version in french... Can you help me with chords, sheet music of instrument only version of the refrain and a verse?
@mitnerd363 жыл бұрын
Here is a lead sheet, only the Chorus of it has the lyrics - The first 4 bars of the verse can be repeated as many times as needed to fit the lyrics in, the final 4 bars of the verse are meant to transition to the chorus. The link in the description is where I got my sheet music reference from (under "history of.."), hope this one helps too! www.dropbox.com/s/1l0c7k1fq6pxgr7/Daloy%20Polizei%20%28blank%20lead%20sheet%29.pdf?dl=0

We need verses for George Floyd and Breonna Taylor.
@mitnerd363 жыл бұрын
We do indeed! NGL I had them in mind when I first drafted this. The reason I didn't include my Floyd/Chauvin verse is I try to make my propaganda as timeless/durable as is practical, so with police murders I try to wait until there's a firm(ish) resolution in the legal system (Chauvin could still get out on appeal and there's a federal investigation into Louisville pigs that I'll want to include the do-nothing results of, for example). I'll probably drop a version with a George Floyd verse before this summer (along with Elijah McClain and a bunch of other verses I've been working on), even if it gets updated/changed over time.

Its a shame that this is the kind of song you have to update every single year at the least. most of the time you've gotta add a new verse every month.

@Mitnerd36 Lyrics if you want to try: In ale gasn vu men geyt, hert men zabastovkes Yinglekh, meydlekh, kind-un-keyt, shmuesn fun pribovkes. (x2; 'pribovkes' is sometimes 'nabovkes') Genug shoyn brider horeven, genug shoyn borgn-layen! Makht a zabastovke; lomir brider zikh bafrayen! Hey, hey, doloy politsey, doloy samoderzhavyets v rosey! Nekhtn hot er gefirt a vegele mit mist; haynt iz er gevorn a kapitalist! Hey, hey, doloy politsey, doloy samederzhavyets v rosey! Kozakn, zhandarmen, arop fun di fert! Der rusisher kaizer ligt shoyn in der erd! Hey, hey, doloy politsey, doloy samederzhavyets v rosey! ("On every street where you go, you hear rumors. Boys, girls, kids, are talking about pay hikes. Enough struggling, brothers; enough borrowing and lending. Let us go on strike and free ourselves, brothers! Brothers and sisters, give me your hand; let us break [Tsar] Nikolai's wall! Hey, hey, down with the police; down with the autocrat in Russia! Brothers and sisters, let us speak as equals; let us shorten Nikolai's years! [Chorus] Brothers and sisters, let us go together; let us bury Nikolai with his mother! [Chorus] Yesterday he drove a cart full of garbage; now he has become a capitalist! Cossacks, gendarmes, get off the horse! The Russian Tsar lies in the ground!" - romanization and translation mine; probably not that good. Also the verses sometimes appear in different orders. 'Irtsn' means to use the formal pronoun 'ir' for the other person, so the singer wants to speak informally as equals) There are lots of good renderings of this song on KZbin; Guerilla Radio has about a dozen by native Yiddish speakers and Monsieur Jack has done two excellent renditions with *fantastic* pronunciation as a native English speaker. I'd love to hear yours!
