In a Robert Millikan experiment, you put the positively charged plate below and the negatively charged plate above, but you are wrong. In a Millikan experiment, the positively charged plate above and the negatively charged plate below is due to electron and electron repulsion force.

@AbeneS-z6v Thank you for your comment. Can you elaborate on your question? I didn't quite understand your question?

The Robert Millikan experiment, specifically the oil drop experiment, is designed to measure the charge of the electron. It involves balancing the gravitational force on small oil droplets with the electric force between two charged plates. In the typical setup, the positively charged plate is placed above, and the negatively charged plate is below. This arrangement is important because the electric field between the plates is directed downward (from positive to negative), opposing the downward force of gravity acting on the oil droplets.

@@AbeneS-z6v The concept you should understand is that the droplets are positively charged. When the gravitational forces pull them down, the positive electric force pulls them up. In this experiment, we try to balance these 2 forces. The thing I didn't mention in the video is that in real-life scenarios, we should also consider drag force or air resistance.
