One of the smartest picks the Lakers' front office has ever made!!! THIS KID CAN BALL AND SHOOT!!! I'm very excited and look forward to seeing him in a Lakers uniform!! Dalton was underrated during his entire basketball career until his senior year at Tennessee and was undervalued in this draft! Good for him!!!

It just proves that most professional scouts are borderline incompetent. Just see where Tom Brandy was drafted. I watched many Michigan games where he lead comebacks before he became the GOAT.

No actually it proves that KZbin clowns who make bank off clicks, likes, follows, mentions & subscribers know how to push the buttons of their audience in order to attract a loyal following. If you think either of these clowns knows more about these players than the people who spend 60-80 hours a week in the game films & talking to coaches, players & analyzing data...then you're not very bright. Wait to see if this guy does anything before you decide that because Tom Brady made it in the NFL that means all socuts are morons. I'm guessing you didn't see Brady coming either...did you?

@MarkLewis-l3f5 ай бұрын
His age is not relevant, but the pathway he took to major college basketball is. He spent 2 years in junior college, & another 2 at a crappy Big Sky school (Northern Colorado). That means he was already halfway past the age when NBA scouts consider "upside" to be leveling off. I'll grant that he scored a lot for Tennessee, but it was mostly on the strength of being a high volume 3 point shooter. He put up over 40% from distance in the college game but NBA great shooters tend to be very good at the line as well, and he has remained at 73% for his whole career. I'm not saying he can't play in the league, just that this guy calling him the second best player in the game was silly. He slid to 17 in a mediocre draft because that's where NBA front office people had him ranked...despite what these to think of "outside evaluators" ranking him in the top 10.

So I was confused about a lot of teams that passed up on him, starting with Detroit, then Charlotte, then Grizzlies, Thunder, Kings, and Sixers. Those teams all chose young player based off potential or they chose fit especially teams like Memphis and Miami.
@superdopehiphop5 ай бұрын
I like the pick lot for Lakers, but he wasn’t consensus top10 from non nba front expected draft experts. He was usually 6-10 for sure, but I def saw some big boards that had him 11-12 range. JJ was 12.8 not 12.3 ppg for career and that’s bc he didn’t play much early. His 10 yr prime from 2010-11 to 19-20 he averaged 15 PPG on 45/42/90 splits. He reminds me more of Wally Szczerbiak and Thunder Dan Majerle.

His age alone is not the issue, it's the fact that he took such a circuitous route to major college basketball. He had to do two seasons in a junior college, followed by two more at a crappy Big Sky school before he got to the SEC. NBA scouts tend to see players as having a lower ceiling to improve by the time they have done 3 years in college. This guy had 5 years in college. That's why he fell to #17, & it's not an unimportant concern just because Lebron is almost 40...which has literally nothing to do with this guy's future NBA career.

Knecht doesn’t fit the timeline of a few a of these teams and doesn’t fill a role that some of the tops teams that could have drafted need.Grizzlies were smart and picked Edey, Okc doesn’t need another guard/Sf, heat needed a big. Philly picking McCain over Knecht is an interesting choice but not completely egregious
