Love seeing the Vulcan and Tellarite ships also welcoming Enterprise home, presumably waiting by Earth to help in event of the Xindi reaching Earth. The show really pushed the idea that to win in times of desperation having friends and allies can keep you going.

As far as homecomings go, this one didn't feel as epic as Voyager's BUT it felt very wholesome. Seeing all of the different ships in the pre federeration days welcome the NX-01 home was delightful.

@@ramirowendler Completely agree. This one had so much more emotional impact, the relief the crew had, T'Pol's expression, Hoshi's adorable little crying giggle when they were getting multiple hails. Had so much more wallop. The sight of the battered and beaten NX01 coming home with the music playing makes me want to pet the damn ship, telling it that it's done such a good job, you can rest now 💜 Then we get a whole few episodes dedicated to them healing, reintegrating with home and realising how different exploration would be. Archer's conversation with Captain Hernandez speaks volumes of how much he's changed and the guilt he carries. Voyager on the other hand was: Borg sphere go boom, hey we did it, we're back. Shut the fuck up admiral, it'll be in my report. Baby time Tom, right, all done. No closure, no nothing. Still annoys me to this day.

Indeed, aside from saving Earth (and a future for the Federation), the mission turned back several malign actions in other races (the Xindi and the Sphere Builders, obviously).

@@tixxoncraft, Yes, I'm well aware of that incident. There was no absolute certainty that the alien crew was condemned to that fate. Indeed, as Enterprise was more focused on referencing past events (and not just letting them float off into the ether) and the consequences of Archer's decision were presented as being definitional in his development, I think it unlikely that there wouldn't have been a mention subsequently (if not later in Season 3, than in Season 4), if such a dire outcome had come to pass. Also, it's worth noting that Archer did leave the crew with provisions, though not any enhanced defensive weaponry capabilities.

This is the Star Trek series that I love the most. It felt a bit more grounded considering that it was the beginning, but the tech was more realistic. When the Chris Pine films came, to me it felt as the best way to follow it, and I was so glad that Archer was mentioned along with his Dog, and on the second film This Enterprise ship model can be seen along the other ones. Truly love this series overall.

@Purist-dc4vk The fact that you don't like it, doesn't mean others can't like it. It is an alternate universe, even said so in the actual first film, and even throughout the other films the understanding of it being an alternate universe is always addressed. And the fact that main Canon Spock dies in that Alternate Universe does make it Canon, only as said, an alternate universe but he was the bridge, because that is where he ends up dying long after his own friends from his universe. Now what's even better is that Enterprise being a prequel is unaffected by the alternate Canon line, and that is why that series is gold, because it predated both OG Canon timeline and Alternate Kelvin Timeline.

Insult to injury that the finale was just a glorified TNG episode where they wrapped it up by randomly killing Trip off for absolutely no reason. Has to be one of the worst series finales ever made.

Well they kept screwing with the time slot and ended up putting it on Friday Nights against mouth breathers’ favorites and the ratings dropped. If this reality tv garbage never started Enterprise would have been the 21ST Century classic like shows as TNG or Voyager were for the decades that they were aired. I don’t have any interest in shows like American Idol, kim what’s her name and other garbage like The Bachelor. I don’t want to feel like I dropped 20 IQ points after viewing the shows. I never felt that way after any of the Star Trek s Shows until Discovery. It’s like a live action movie and no plot to balance the show. Enterprise ended up like sharing an hour with friends but Discovery is like watching a Michael Bay movie with the writing of See Spot Run after all of the special effects. Enterprise was at least believe able as a Star Trek prequel to the series.

Ironically, it's robust build was a direct result of it NOT relying on shields. By relying on polarized hull plating, the ships hull had to be beefy as hell to maintain integrity while the plating did it's work. NX may be primitive by any other standard, but humans can make a tank when they want to

@@shadowhenge7118 Nah, the Vulcans were allies. They helped Earth, and the Enterprise in particular, numerous times. They just thought they knew better and that humanity was too inexperienced to be moving so quickly. It was a sentiment shared by others as well. They were also right, to an extent. First thing the Enterprise did at the beginning of the series was accidentally insult the Klingons, which is partly why Earth and the Klingons spent the next century and a half either at war or on the brink of war.

I don't really like the refit. I would much rather they'd just beefed up the impulse pontoons with the classic 'duck belly' Enterprise look to give the ship a less flat profile (somewhat similar to the -E), mounted twin deflector booms at the front of them where they meet the dorsal hull and got rid of that damned dish cut-out in the front of the saucer. I always hated that thing.

Especially when it was behind the scenes political pressure that cancelled the show. Washington DC power players who typically were not “Trekie’s” “felt like that there was too much political commentary related to their real world interests and political agendas... “The Xindi” versus “the 9/11 events”... the Philosophy of the fictional “Federation”... against the political agendas of the power brokers in DC... The very original “Enterprise” being a New England Sloop in the Revolutionary War reference was wonderful in my opinion. It’s a shame that so few people are aware of the exploits of that little vessel against the most powerful military power in the world at that time. The consequences have distorted the philosophical philosophy of the television series ever since... Especially when the 1960’s Star Trek was designed for political influence purposes and worked fabulously... Hence the behind the scenes political pressure manipulation to shut it down.

She was supposed to be refit in season 5 if it had gone ahead. Secondary hull would have been added (akin to the Constitution-class). Whether this would have happened pre- or post-Romulan War is something that has been debated.

I remember when they first revealed the design of the NX-01. people complained, whining - “it’s a rip off of the Akira class“ until cooler heads prevailed and said, “hey idiots this ship came first, the Akira is a rip off of it if anything.” and by the end of the series there was much love for this tough little ship. Like her forbears she always gave what was asked of her and more. Until her very name struck Awe and Dread in those who had to engage her in battle.

Most of the other Earth ships topped out at Warp 2 or 3 at best. They didn't have the legs or speed to really help NX-01, so yes, they were forming a defensive perimeter for the worst case.

I think according to the technical files, the NX-01 was barely functioning upon its return home. I could barely hold warp 3, hull was torn up and its targeting sensors were not functional which means ever since the battle of azati prime, reed had been manually firing each shot. It was not in a good state and it took Earth spacedock over 2 weeks of extensive repairs and builds to get it fully functional again. It literally gave all it could give.

I think the in cannon theory is the technology was advancing so quickly that the frame and wires can’t keep up with the refits and it’s cheaper to just design a new model to handle the stress of higher warp. Old ships become cargo or passenger ships until unfixable and become scrapped.

I love Star Trek Enterprise.But I always found it funny and weird.That when the Zinda attacked earth with the superweapon there was not a single ship from either Earth or Vulcan to help defend Earth.Shran came from Andoria to help.But when it's all over there are over 30 ships to welcome the Enterprise home.And there was not a single sentence in the series why there was not a single ship in the attack

All these glowing comments say a lot about Star Trek fans. Twenty years later, everybody loves _Enterprise._ But when it first ran, it was mocked and derided - all the way down to the theme song. Star Trek fans crave the familiar and hate the new, which is pretty weird considering the show's founding principle is "to boldly go where no man has gone before."

This was such a goofy episode transition. (Hear me out). The NX01 chases Xindi to Earth, to *somehow?* randomly stumble onto WW2 NYC. At the end of the episode, they destroy the portal to (somehow?) Get the NX01 back to the present (while still damaged and with Archers injuries, memories, etc ) and now they are in high orbit/further out in the system..... ? I feel like Daniels being present or a better transition would have been nice rather than just poofing into NYC

I always figured the fleet was guarding the whole system when the xindi weapon arrived in orbit which would explain why no ships were around earth, they had to jump to warp to get back to earth and sense most ships in Earth's fleet at the time could barely manage warp 3 it would take a bit of time.

They didn't know the Xindi were going to show up. When they did, help was called but the battle ended before they got there, then when the Enterprise comes back from the past the ships are there.

At the edges of the system expecting the Xindi to come the conventional way, but they essentially "teleported" next to Earth meaning they couldn't actually get there in time since most species couldn't get past Warp 4, and most Earth ships could barely reach Warp 3.

Which reminds me, isn't this the only only scene in all of Star Trek that shows actual physical damage to nacelle pylons? Held together by spit and prayer, and it still works, as does that nacelle. No wonder Starfleet felt safe putting those damn things so far out there.

This is the last ST series I watched. Growing up watching repeats of TOS and then the films, STTNG every week followed by DS9 & Voyager. I'm not interested in anything Kelvin related. I still have Picard to watch but I'm saving that for...I don't really know why.
