Damaged jet ski seat repair: DIY seat recovering using materials from your local fabrics store!

Seat foam repair and recover for Yamaha Waverunner GP1200 and Wave Blaster II Jet ski seats. I am by no means an upholsterer. I am not great when it comes to the tight corners, or the steep concave sections. I just needed some seat covers that wouldn't cut my legs while riding, and these fit the bill. A prefitted/stitched seat cover would be a much easier fit than trying to work with this flat stretchy vinyl, but a heatgun helps.

That came out great! I also have a 99 GP1200. It’s so light…Great ski for jumping waves

Thanks! I have two GP1200's, they're just heavy enough to be ridable in the bay, without being barges. I had a 94 Waveraider that only weighed around 388lbs, and it would get tossed around in anything but smooth conditions. But when you took it out on a calm river, man was it fun to slide around!

Did you use qny spray adhesive?

At the 1:55 mark I used spray adhesive to attach the thin layer of white padding used to hide the imperfections in the original foam. I think I used 3M Super 77 👍

Where did you buy the vinyl cover material?

I actually used the “marine grade vinyl” from JoAnn Fabrics 👍 it’s stretchy which helps getting it to lay flat

What was the padding you put on in between the seat and the cover?

Was it upholstery batting?

I dont remember the exact name of it but it was just a white non-absorbent woven padding layer to hide the minor imperfections from the foam repair. It’s not very thick at all, it just hides the sanding marks from the flap wheel and the foam repairs.
