Sea-Doo Full Seat Repair and Recover - Gray Ghost Resurrection

In this video I repair a severely damaged seat at recover like new. Had to add new foam implants and get it all level. Used marine vinyl from Joann's. Resurrecting a Seadoo 97.5 GTX Limited aka the Gray Ghost. This was the first year of the big 947/951 Rotax Engine

What did you use for the batting? We just filled in the holes with foam and wanting to add a layer in between the foam and the vinyl but not sure what we should use. We found some foam weft material at joanns but not sure it would hold up

I used 1/8 batting from Joannes. They had some rolls and picked what i thought would work. Definitely need it or the seat will look like a bag of nickles 😂

Hey man, I have a seadoo gsx ltd 98, it’s the red and purple model. I’ve ran into some issues and I’m kinda stuck. I took it out the first time this summer and it had a very rough idle. Then when I tried to go full throttle It would bog down about half throttle. Probably 3000-3500 rpm. Then anymore than that would kill it. Then sometimes after restarting it would let me take off full throttle for about 3-4 seconds then die again. Took it to a mechanic and he said it was the mpem. Found one on eBay and replaced, haven’t got on the water yet but convinced that isn’t it. Any ideas? Bad gas? Carb clean?

Rebuild carbs with OEM mikuni kits from osdmarine. Replace all grey fuel lines with new ones. Replace the fuel filter in front and also the selector. Clean out tank. If still does it, then it could be the rectifier which is built into the mpem. You can disconnect the rectifier and see if it runs better. It's purpose is to turn a/c to d/c and charge battery.

When you pulling the vinyl we can't see you just showing us when you done the most part I wanted to see

True. Takes both hands and I didn't have my tripod. Easier with 2 people, but start in back and then secure front, all with temporary stables and don't cut it yet. Work your way around stretching. Sometimes remove temp staples and add back. Then put final row of staples and remove others ..then cut excess vinyl. Pro tip .. use little contact spray on edges for better hold.
