I thought the interaction between Alanis and Edna worked well, after all the main objective was to entertain the audience and both succeeded to that end, Alanis did well as she had absolutely no idea where Edna was taking her, and Graham was wondering how to get his show back, but he also knew it made for good television.

What video did you watch?? She just found the Great Dame charming and not intimidating as most celebrities do, and everything else was in jest. Get over yourself with this reaching 🤣 She played along with the "I became a megastar" thing so she clearly knew the conceit of Dame Edna. She just had no problem maintaining eye contact while accepting the Dame's ribbing, and even managed a couple of potshots herself, again all in jest. Dame Edna didn’t seem to be too aware of her either assuming she was American lol But as much as I love Alanis as a singer, I did also find her quips unnecessary. Even tho the Dame did also push it by constantly pushing her CD jocosely. We get it, artists only go to these shows to push their work, pointing that out once would have been enough tho. Pushing on with the joke made it uncomfortable and also unnecessary. That’s what triggered Alanis to begin with. It was all and all uncomfortable to watch, and both of them established the dynamic. Edna started it and Alanis ended it. Moving on.

I would say Dame Edna was a steam roller. Alanis was introduced but Dame Edna did all the talking. She then said Alanis was Canadian. Who's making a fool of themselves.
