Facts. Dame, the Bucks and Giannis get what they deserve. Dame for all his talks about loyalty,then his weak attempts to strong arm Portland to trading him where he wanted to go, Milwaukee for firing their coach who had them with the 2nd best record in the East in spite of Dame and the teams depreciated defense, then unceremoniously fired him for Doc Rivers of all people, and Giannis, for cosigning on them to trade their best perimeter player in dru, who was the missing piece to their chip run.

Poole is bigger than Dame though. Whenever we say Poole is bad on defense we talk relative to other 6'4 defenders (I.e. Derrick White). When we think about Dame's defense, we should be comparing it to other so called 6'2 guards like Brunson and Maxey. It's the same stuff with Luka up until recently. People say he is a bad defender for most of his career but when we say that, we are saying that relative to other 6'7 guards (which is many).

I'm glad Lillard is getting exposed as a negative player. He's certainly one of the most overrated players for the kind of record he has (zero post-season success, no rings, have never reached the finals) and yet was included in the top 75 players of all-time while Dwight Howard was left off. He’s definitely not a negative player. For almost a decade in Portland he turned the Blazers into a top 5 offense every year despite never having wings that could shoot, no bench, and having the 29th or 30th best starting center in the NBA his entire tenure. You have to view Dame’s career in the proper context. What should the expectations be for the guy who’s around the 10th best player in the league who had an objectively really bad supporting cast in the better conference? Championships? lol, no. That’s an unrealistic expectation. Don’t buy into this really polarizing and gross all-or-nothing type mindset. Players don’t have to be MJ or they’re garbage and not worth remembering. There’s a huge distance between awful to all time great and Dame is somewhere on that continuum closer to the great side. He was a good player, he had cool playoff moments in his career. Is it ok to say that and enjoy his career for what it was?

Giannis has been the best player in basketball a lot of times over his career - Tatum and Brown battle over who is the best guy on the Celtics, this year. Giannis' problem is that the Bucks ownership made wild concessions to him bc he's so much bigger than their market, and he's a once in a generation power forward, not a once in a generation general manager. If you had swapped Tatum and Giannis four years ago, the Celtics would have three rings, on their way to a fourth this year, the Bucks would be a play-in team.

I had an entire convo about dame offense not being enough to make up for the defense the bucks were going to lose with jrue. Plus, he won't be in the same role offensively on this team. He isn't that good of a playmaker off of PnRs, which is the type of PG a team like this could REALLY use. It doesn't help that giannis isn't necessarily the greatest screener either. I didn't think this trade was going to be what wins them another championship, but dam, I didn't think it'd be this bad either, lol.
