Priest wasn’t over as a heel but the crowd perception towards him immediately shifted after the start of the Gunther fued when he was allowed to play the baby face.

Typical heel world champion where they only win matches with interference. I hope they don’t do it with Gunther. It just sucks that Damien never felt like a world champion until his match with Gunther. WWE seriously needs to let heel champions win without cheating all the damn time. I think that’s what made Gunther’s IC reign so amazing. Anyways, I give Priest a C+. His last match and buildup with Gunther were amazing, but everything else was overshadowed by something or someone else.

I largely agree, but I think the goal of making him a credible main eventer was ultimately achieved despite the issues with others like Punk and Mcintyre involving themselves in his matches and feuds to further their story which made the WHC feel like a third wheel

I really really liked Damian’s run. He showed he can work as a heel and get some heat, but he’s also now shown he can be a HUGE and dominant baby face main eventer. Just listen to the pops he got even before he fought Gunther - you can’t fake those pops. He can quickly build momentum for a feud, like how he and Gunther did it. And he’s obviously shown he’s incredible in the ring. Amazing finishers - The height his opponents get whenever he hits the South of Heaven, is simply impressive. And who doesn’t love a good Razors Edge? On top of that. He worked that scary botch so well with Drew, and he put on a 5-star banger with Gunther. Everything about him just screams “star”.

What sucks about Bayley is the wasted potential.... I mean Bianca Belair was just there, and with their background when Bayley was running Damage Control, there was definitly something to be told here, could've done a similar heel turn with Bianca as Drew did against Jey Uso last year where she would still blame Bayley, could have even work out a mini feud during that with Naomi with the later deciding to forgive Bayley to easily and be buddy buddy with Bayley... it really write itself, and the early backstage altercation between Bayley and Bianca seems to start building up this, instead they decided to stuck Bianca with Jade to help her by covering her early lack of in ring, I understand but it's such a miss opportunity.

I think his reign is better than I thought it was going to be. I was skeptical as him as a World champion when he won the MITB was hoping for LA Knight but looking back on it I think it was a great choice. He gave us one of the best cash ins of recent history being only the second time someone cashed in at Maina. I loved everything around revolving Drew and his short comings. He put on a lot of solid matches really showing me how good of a worker he actually is and he made me more of a fan. I think it ended at a good time, Gunther needed to win mainly to establish winning KOTR as a big deal because now it’s a title shot at Summerslam. He had a better run than Rollins mainly because with Rollins they made him face too many people that the fans really wanted to be champion plus not too many defending the title just to defend the title that Rollins did.

I don't think Gunther is going to elevate that Title unless they have that belt on him for a while. But if Gunther is going to have a long reign with the belt than Cody's Reign is going to have to give right? ...or vice versa? There are so many Wrestlers at the moment who deserve to be given a World Title Reign and are due for it. Drew McIntyre is hot right now but will he be able to remain hot for another year? What about CM Punk? When is he gonna be Main Eventing WrestleMania? Cause if rumors are to be believed it doesn't seem like he'll be Main Eventing this one. Finn Balor STILL hasn't held a World Title around his Waist since having to Vacate the Universal Title. He was pretty hot during his feud with Seth and yet only just now is he getting built back up. What bugs me even more is the fact that Bobby Lashley's contract with WWE literally just expired a couple days ago and no one seems to be talking about it even though everyone was talking when it was close to expiration. WWE had nothing for him. One sided feud with Kross where they basically had him bury Kross, a couple of house show and dark matches afterwords and... That's it. Say Goodbye to the person who was once pushed as one of the most Dominant Forces on the Entire Roster. I bet most people reading this (if there even is anyone) didn't even realize that he's already no longer in the company. I'm not saying WWE should abandon long reigns and I am definitely not saying they should be filled with more short reigns but having two World Champions who could potentially hold those titles for a historic amount of time, which I don't THINK is gonna happen but still, is a very worrying thought.

i think the main issue with his reign was that barely anyone was really excited for it at the beginning. we were hoping for him to lose pretty much every time he defended his title, especially because he was always fighting fan favourites, and of course also due to the interferences by other people. he didn’t get to win on his own. turned out he did an amazing job as champion. the short feud with gunther changed everything for me personally, and i started to really enjoy damian’s reign from that point on. wish it would’ve lasted longer, but i can’t wait for his babyface run! 🔥

This was an EXCELLENT reign. If you just had Damian immediately start pinning Rollins/McIntyre people wouldn’t have bought it. The way it was done, he slowly started to become more and more credible, until the match with Gunther, where he became a star in my eyes. Finn screwing him was perfect. Awesome story set up with Finn, Damian officially became his own man (which was the story of the reign), Gunther is now the champion, and everyone is anticipating what Damian’s going to do next. Priest went from a guy with potential, to a guy you can’t miss. If that’s not an effective title reign, I don’t know what is

Honestly, I felt like this title reign was a masterclass for how to turn a heel into a baby face as a slow burn. I feel like it setup Damian perfectly for the next few months, he's really over now and it felt organic. Say what you want about his matches, but he managed to make you believe in all of them. Not once did I doubt Cody would lose his title in all of his matches. Same with Logan Paul until the match with LA Knight where it was clear who would win as well. But Damian is the one that made you question. Even leading up to Summerslam and during the match, myself and a lot of others started to believe that this would be Gunther's first big stepback, as Damian would defend. The only negative for me is about how it ended. Not Finn's betrayal and the breakup of the Judgement Day, and not on Damian's side, but I feel like the WWE is continuing to mismanage Finn. If he went on a win streak on Raw while Priest's reign was happening, and if he was handled right after that, this feud would feel like actual hate and really keep us on the edge of our toes. But leading up to Summerslam Finn has felt weak on Raw. And for now the feud for now is really just a Damian+Rhea hype machine, which I don't mind in itself, but I feel like they should keep Finn out of these segments and keep him as a looming threat for Damian, and have him be really vicious once they actually fight

His whole first reign was because of the judgement day and thus they needed to be part of him winning/intertwined with his reign. they already planted the seeds with the Rollins promo telling him he needs to go solo. Now that he’s out and lost the title, it’s going to be so much better when he finally gets a clean victory over a champion to get the belt back. Even in Gunther match he set himself apart from his previous matches. He’s got “It”. He will win it back clean after his feud with judgment day.

Damien’s title reign was good. Regardless of interference or the finishes to his title defences he had a decent run. His cash-in was legendary and his match with Gunther was sound. The credibility of his title reign was solidified by his affiliation to the judgment day. Every champion needs a strong gimmick and a strong storyline in order to have a good run with the belt. I feel like Damien rose to the occasion. Now he’s back to being a single’s player he can move onto the next chapter of his career. He’s a solid unit overall, there’s still some room for improvement but he’s got it where it counts. I look forward to seeing the conclusion to his feud with Finn. I believe this is just the start of multiple title reigns. He’s proven that he can represent the brand when needed.

I was pretty unconvinced personally, he looked good with the title but his booking with thw MITB made me groan when he won at Mania. But he slowly won me over during his run, he did a great job as champion. His match against Drew was his star making performance, fighting through his potential leg injury was world champ shit. His match against Gunther is in my top 3 matches of the year so far. I am genuinely excited to see where Priest goes from here and hope he wins another world title in the future.

The only thing I hated in that moment which thankfully they fixed was that stipulation. Rollins technically didn't lose at MITB since he was not pinned, but Drew was. So for Priest to say to Rollins after I'm done with Gunther, you want another shot you got it actually showed integrity for me. Had Rollins taken the pin, been counted 1.2.3 then it would've been a different story

you could definitely tell that triple h was doing everything in his power to get people to buy in and get behind damian as a top champion & main event player. because i will admit that in the beginning when judgement day started even afterwards when finn balor was brought in to replace edge i felt like he was going to be no more than a forever upper mid carder mainly because i was thinking that the faction was put together to get rhea over more as a top star in the company which ended up happening

Actually Damian was the first to join Judgement Day, Edge saw potential in both him and later Rhea, and the goal was clearly to elevate them both, looking back that aspect of Judgement Day really worked out, and to this day it still elevating Dominik as a future top heel, so as a faction that is nurtering new talents it overall did a great job with these 3.

Whi knows when it will win some more prestige, it might get back in a similar situation as the big Gold Belt era, whereas their importance seemed to not be set in stone and sometime the WHC championship looks just as if not more important because of the feuds being sometime bigger and much more engaging than what the WWE title would get at the same time.

I was happy that Damian was champion, even though he defended it with some kind of help, but that is a lot of them that get help, so to me he was a good champion, even though how he won them, could be worse, but it was his first time as champion, and he should have been champion a little bit more to prove himself more, and show that he can do it himself, which I know he could have done!! Now we have Gunther who is freaking going to be champion forever which is going to be boring at a certain period!

I always thought during that money in the bank they botched Drew McIntyre’s music and that would’ve interrupted the pin count on Damien pretty much like Sting debut survivor series 2014 but the music was played too late. I thought they was going to play it off like Finn paid off the referee to help Damien without being present, but they went the real route like in other sports where the referee just made the call

Tbh the match with solo don’t hold water cause Cody already beat solo prior and everyone was waitin for the goat to come back which took away from the Match.

Damien's WHC reign never felt right to me because he wanted to be able to prove he can win without the judgment day but never actually had a clean win, he literally would have Lost every single match he was in if not for the judgement day and instead of accepting that with his family he attacks them. When JD saved his title reign against jey uso then attacked JD afterwards it was over for me. I remember hearing him talk about being homeless so I knew they were building up to a betrayal and making Damien the baby face BUT the events leading up to it makes Damien not only look like more of a heel but also kinda like a whiney baby. He never cared about "winning clean" until he won, most of the tag victories he and Finn had were won by cheating, so the plot of him wanting to prove he can win on his own didn't make sense to me. The heel in this story is Damien priest, not Finn balor. Damien is the one who needed help to win and when he got help he beat up his allies, Damien was the one making his friends angry because he kept on saying he didn't need them, Damien was the one who demanded control when there were no leaders. When Finn turned on Damien, I would rather have Damien as the heel and Finn as the face, because the story that I'm reading is that judgement day has a jerk leader and one of the members is getting annoyed at their leaders ways of treating everyone. What makes him the face in this scenario? The only story I hear about Damien that makes him the face is that he was homeless but honestly I don't care, because that doesn't give someone the right to throw around their friends like Damien did.

I was so hyped when Priest became champion. If he wasn't in the middle of the Judgement Day implosion and the CM Punk/Drew McIntyre fued, then he couldve had an amazing run.

You were mad at me when i told you Gunther was winning no matter what. Re Priest, it was okay, its ironic because he has become a main eventer but not because of his title reign but because of the amazing story of the J Day. Just hope WWE can now elevate Finn in the same way.
