Almost everyone on the roster has worked incredibly hard; that's not an accolade, that's a precursor. What matters when EVERYONE has put the work in is what you bring to the table other than your work ethic -- talent to execute dangerous looking moves and stunts safely, talent and attitude to protect your ring opponents while putting on the show, charisma both verbal and nonverbal, good mic skills to deliver promos, believable acting... and several other things that the camera could never catch, such as how you treat others when the cameras are off. I am not a Damien Priest fan, at all. But I think that I could be. To me his biggest draw is the tone of his voice; he sounds like a serious dude, suave but low in tone. He visually has a build that makes it believable that he could fight somebody bigger than him, take some hurt, and deal enough back to win. So he sells the idea of being a contender well, and as long as his ring work looks good he makes a decent champion... except for the way he won it, which undermines his "serious threat" vibes he'd otherwise give off right now. WWE writers needed to script him walking calmly down to the ring to face a beat up Drew McIntyre, mic in hand telling Drew to take a few seconds and catch his breath because he's coming to take that title. It needed to feel just slightly more like an honest win, like he just might have beaten Drew in a fair fight. The writers need to ditch his lackeys. It doesn't work for him, at all. They don't need to vanish, just not help him unless he's getting jumped. Let him fight his own fights, so that he seems more like he's capable of that vs anyone and not just vs jobbers. There's no build-up with him at the moment, and there should always be every week. They let him talk but they make him seem smaller instead of bigger by what they have him doing. I'm not a fan of it, even if I could be a fan of the character.

@yeeted420696 ай бұрын
I don't think that's the case. Cody, Roman, Gunther all aren't any more mobile or flippy than Damian. There are 2 things I can think of. One is that his character puts a lof people off. It's heavily inspired by Undertaker, so was Bray. It may feel like a ripoff to some fans, especially so soon after Bray's passing. Second is the basically non-existent build to his reign. Sure, a MITB winner rarely has a build given the nature of a cash-in, but his MITB win over people like LA Knight and now his cash in taking it from Drew who is very much deserving of a title may have done the rest.

Granted he hasn’t reached his absolute peak and there still room for improvement but he’s on the right path with both feet firmly on the ground. I just don’t think he works as a babyface. I really didn’t like his US title run as a babyface. He’s born to be a heel or tweener. Inevitably he will exit the judgment day to begin a solo run as a babyface, i don’t mind but he’s actually quite similar to Seth Rollins, if you think about it. So happy to see him with the belt. I'm hoping the appearance of Judgement Day breaking up is going to come to fruition. As ever, original factions that are successful are great but the more additions, the less it becomes like what it was supposed to resemble. He and Rhea were formidable, then Dumdum with his unoriginal daddy issues came in. He's a good heel but kind of teats on a billygoat when it comes to what Judgement Day was supposed to be. Then along came Munchkin McDonagh - again, great wrestler but he's hardly the 'demonic' presence Judgement Day was originally. Truth turned their promos into Muppet Vignettes. That's a fair shout, but I'd argue he's more the FASTEST rise considering how quick he took to wrestling
@jordteps17756 ай бұрын
He’s a transitional champion. Drew is going to win the title at clash at the castle for sure
@Dylightful6 ай бұрын
Nah. I reckon it's gonna be a triple threat with Drew, Punk and Priest if anything. Drew doesn't need a world title for his feud with Punk rn and putting the title into it just is overkill imo

The only time there was a puerto rican heavyweight champion was pedro morales in 1973. It was even wwf the company was run by Vince’s dad and was called WWWF. Since then puerto ricans have been relegated to midcarders and almost always portrayed as foreign america haters. Once they even gave a couple of puerto ricans a matador gimmick. Vince viewed puerto ricans in a certain light and to him were not good enough for the main event.

It's a new era and I am 100% here for it. Wonderful things like this have been happening left and right in the wwe since trips took over and I am here for it

@@Dylightful The Blonde era of wrestling is over. I realized that when Damian won the title. I had gotten so used to Vince’s tendencies that it caught me by surprise. Triple H will always be in my good graces for that.

The World title is where it should be. Sami is better chasing the world titles. The Intercontinental belongs with the miz and mic workers cuz they need it so bad!
@Dylightful6 ай бұрын
Sami should be chasing the whc, but not because of mic workers needing the ic title. Miz realistically could and maybe should have one more world title reign before he retires

I even say that I stand by those feelings, but in that video regarding his tike as senor mitb I even noted that his talent was still shining through the poor booking as the briefcase holder. Aka the issue for me atleast was never with Priest and more with how they presented him

@@Dylightful Kofi, Miz, and Eddie Guerrero had the WWE title, and they weren't main eventers. Sorry, but this logic don't fly. Having a world title doesn't automatically mean someone is a main eventer, especially if they won it via MITB contract. Priest has a lot to prove before someone can legitimately talk about him being in that league, let alone his rise being "the most incredible rise in WWE history". It's pretty laughable.
