@DamianCoccio9 жыл бұрын
+bassbelow Thanks so much. Yes this is standard tuning. Interesting you should ask as I am in the process of working on a new version for the 4 string bass using a drop tuner to get the low b in places.

+Damian Coccio Thanks for the fast answer. A detuner that goes down to the low b....that sounds nice!

How difficult is it transitioning from fretted to fret-less?I've been in love with YOUR exact sound in this video.. and is too hard to mimic on fret. Its like my heart curls to every note you play. The effects as well. I just only have been playing 4 string for about 3 years, but have been playing piano and guitar for much longer. I just don't have the fret board memorized which would be my concern here. thanks!
@DamianCoccio9 жыл бұрын
+Robert Jarden Firstly, thanks for the kind words and for watching. The transition isn't terribly difficult, I think the most important thing is to get a fretless with lines to you can train yourself where things are on the neck, then to let go of playing visually and play using your ears to get the pitch. You have to stick with it and expect it to take a couple years of practice before it starts to come easier.
@RJ-pv4sc9 жыл бұрын
Awesome, such a great response, thank you. And anytime! I once again can't stress how amazing and melodic this sounds. Is there a certain genre of music this is? For I tried looking for that too, for I just can't get enough and its hard to find videos like this. And yeah I'd def give it years to come.
@DamianCoccio9 жыл бұрын
+Robert Jarden I'm not sure what genre this is, but there is a new album I just released on the 15th, and there is the album before that that this song is on. All this kind of feel. You can see them here: electrifiedbass.net/albums/
@markmaddox22598 жыл бұрын
Man, I just over that sound, but can't get it with pickups and strings combos I have tried on my fretless. That sort of spring sound like on Paul Simon's Graceland. Is that a flanger?Your playing is inspiring!

Why would anyone NOT want to play a fretless? Like the tone, but all the while I couldn't help wondering what that piece would sound like sans delay and reverb...

It would sound very dry and the long spaces between phrases would feel empty. The piece was written to be played with a long decay; the signal chain I use is part of my instrument.
