@@habib08m temporary. The PS4 defaults to sleep rather than full power off so it does stay active until it is ever fully powered off. Super easy to start back up once you have everything set up.

if you still have an old early gen flashdrive then this is the perfect use for it, most of those are thin enough to fit into the front ports on a base ps4 and the file needed for it is only a few mb but makes the drive unusable for any other purpose

*Fix for when the pop up doesn't appear when prompted to insert USB stick* - you need to convert the USB stick to MBR first and then use Win32 Disk Imager or Rufus to write the USB stick. This seemed to work for me after using a couple of different USB sticks.

@@serenity808x in Windows, plug in the USB stick, go into Computer Management -> Storage. There will be a list of all the disks. If you right-click on the USB stick there should be an option to convert it to MBR. Let me know how you go.

SUPER IMPORTANT: BEFORE you start the jailbreak process, TURN OFF AUTOMATIC DOWNLOADS in the System menu!! I was setting up the DNS per the video and the PS4 had already started downloading the firmware update between the screen where I entered the wifi password and the DNS screen! Probably using previous settings.. caught it on time, it was almost 90% done downloading and about to install 😰😰😰!!

Well you could just spend a little and upgrade it to an ssd rather than buying fan ... it is already tested that a ps4 pro with ssd is just 10 to 30 second behind ps4 loading time depending on the type of ssd you using ...so get yourself an ssd and enjoy a better performance ps4 pro

If you have firmware 9.0 already go to 6:30 in video to start jailbreak process, Dammit Jeff chapter time jumps to far ahead, there's a few steps for setting up the internet connection you have to do before his chapter time. NB After setting up the internet connection as shown my connection to the 'User Guide' didn't work so I choose 'Test Internet Connection' and when it tested successfully then the 'User Guide' as noted loaded.

I've already jailbroken my ps4 and it's been working great. Though it's *extremely* important to take out the usb after jailbreaking because leaving it in while turning the ps4 on/off can mess up the kernel needing you to wipe everything on it and reinstalling 9.00. Edit: I am wrong.

Question : For those of us who have yet to migrate to a PS5 would it at all be possible to transfer to that new system while on 9.00? We haven't really played PlayStation games in several months so both of our consoles are able to be on 9.00, but the system transfer process requires you to be online. Obviously once you jailbreak a console you will never want to take it online again because it will just get banned, which won't be a problem if we get a PS5 to go online with. Also, can games be backed up as image files? I had a PS3 that was jailbroken years ago and after it died from heat issues the only game that I really got to keep were the ones that had an image file. All the packets file games were lost. That made be prefer images going forward, but so many scenes prefer installation files that aren't as easy to work with and I'd rather made my backups as something that I can just run without installing anything. Is that possible on the PS4 at all? And of course can a modded PS4 play the games installed from PSN Plus without going online, since I won't be able to? And are there emulators for running my old PSX and PS2 games?

Everyone wants things to install in a limited space rather than image files to mount which are easier to keep track of. I ended up buying a PS2 to play PS2 and PS1 games on, because I figured that it was safer to keep them separate from the PS3 to minimize on problems, but I've been having trouble with Popstarter and OPL and PS2 modding forums are beyond horrible! I've tried repeatedly to report a bug for the past week and just got contradictory instructions from moderators meaning it's impossible to actually get help so I'll probably have to get a modded PS1 as well. I wish there was such a thing as a device that uses native hardware to perfectly emulate all machines to actually play the games with or without a disc because even in 2022 compatability for PS1 games is spotty and the old hardware will eventually die.
