Beautiful MULATTOES who kept their identity and didn't bow to lying about themselves to "fit-in." There's a smaller but growing Anglo-Mulatto American population that did the same. Long live the Creoles!

I was raised in Uptown New Orleans, but I remember going to visit my 7th Ward cousins and my Aunts and Uncles in 'Creoleland'! As the darker,brown-skin brother I know firsthand how I was treated. And that stupid question, are you 7th ward???? Go bite me! I embrace all of ME- yes I am a Black Creole- African-American, Choctaw, the 'Foreign' French, French Creole, Cuban, Haitian and Scottish-Welsh! I'm a mut! AND I AM DAMN PROUD OF THAT!!!!! MY SKIN COLOR SHOULD NOT HAVE TO VALID IT!!!!!

@tonetteholmes It's so sad that there are so many ignorant people out there That don't have a Clue as to what a Creole is...The Louisiana Creole is not a product of Rape. Our Ancestors mixed Freely with Whites & They Mixed freely with Creoles. Louisiana Was not a Racist American Colony until after the Louisiana Purchase. It's disgusting to hear this BS from People who don't know anything about Creole history.I'm proud of all My Racial mixtures & Your Daughter should also be Proud

If You are talking about the 1811 Louisiana Slave Rebellion You are sadly mistaken...The Louisiana Native Guard and the Battalion of free Men of Color were not formed until 1860..During that rebellion, Incidently, Creoles, Free People of color and Slaves banded together. It was the act of these Brave People that even started the revolt so just why are You flipping everything...You obviously have a bone to pick..Also We don't need Your permission to call Ourselves Creoles...What an "ASS" You are

augustinecomeaux I NEED to speak with you ASAP...maybe you can help me or direct me in the right direction. Soo i was born in Luziana raised in Tx...now i dnt have much knowledge of my familys lineage past my 95 y.o great grandma whos still alive but is in early stage of dementia. Now, her mom was Caddo Indian..on my dads side is French and Indian..my moms dad is Dominican. Whats strange to me is being tht my last name is PERO and ive been told it is an Italian/Spanish name?? Does my background make me part Créole or something because im really confused. Lately I've found ppl..specifically 4 doctors 1 of which is clearly a white guy with dark hair/eyes..Italian in appearance i guess and the other 3 ppl are very fair skinned women with nice hair and light eyes. Im just curious as to how far back my roots go..could you help me?? Are there resources for this kinda stuff? Please help..thanks in advance

I also love the family story of how my maternal great-grandmother stood up for her new son-in-law!!!!!! LOL....I think my grandfather was the first black-a-moor to integrate the family......some of my crazy great-aunts didn't want my grandma to marry him because he was 'dark'! Now that's stupid! As I was told, my great-granny told all of pas en blanc, wanna-be white relatives to 'go to HELL! That took courage back then....I'm talking 1940's! Now, we have every shade ad hue under the sun lol

As a person of DEEP Creole ancestry, it goes both ways, as my grandfather used to say! There are extremists and racists on both sides of the fence, black power and Creole aristocracy. Even to Creoles of color, the notorious history of places like New Orleans' Autocrat Club and its 'Brown Bag' Test divided families and communities and still causes pain today! Even in some churches, there was seated segregation (like Holy Ghost Catholic on Louisiana Ave. and Saratoga S......it was horrible.

I consider myself African-American and have many of those ethnicities in my lineage. I think many who call themselves African-American just don't understand the difference between African-American and Creole other than being from Louisiana. My peoples reside in SC, GA, FLA. and we have Caribbean/French/Spanish/Native American ties also, but they call the culture Gullah/Angola and they say the "Geechee" language is a Creole language. I am not certain, but was told that through slave trade those cultures diverted and spread throughout different regions. I think it is a wonderful thing to maintain any if not all of one's culture - God Bless.

Just received my first of two DNA tests; I had suspected it all along (even if vague)-- but my maternal side apparently was at least partly Creole, judging by the hundreds of distant relatives scattered throughout the gulf coast. Interesting find!

@319am1 Wow, Just where did You get Your time frame from.?? Creoles, My friend were well established in West Africa way before they were Brought to the New World..In fact Our Creole Language dates back to the 16th Century and then some..It's very possible that We predate European Society..I'm curious..Why did You arbitrarily pick one hundred Years ago..I've been researching My People's History for over 20 years and I cannot find that nowhere

@tonetteholmes Because in essence you're teaching her she has "another family" when in fact those people Never connected themselves to Creole or anyother African bloodline. You're lying to her and setting her up for Psychological issues. That can make a person feel abandoned if they've been taught to believe they have a "White" or "Indian" side of the family and once she experience exteme negative reactions from those people..that can cause psychic trauma for life. Best to teach them the truth.

The First Battalion formed by Free Men Of Color were Southerners Who only wanted to Defend Their State, nothing more, but Were rejected By the Southerners & consequently switched sides to Became America's First Black Battalion to fight in the Civil War.It'sYour duty to prove these atrocities existed since You made the accusation.I think You are a liar or streaching the truth.Even if that was so I'm sure they didn't represent the majority Who served with Honors.Get a life & stop bad mouthing
