She worked her butt off on this tour and the fact that these are some of her best performances and she was dealing with an ED to the point where she’d feel like passing out at any moment is INSANE
@oliviarivera3680 Жыл бұрын
She talks about her body issues in her miss Americana doc and she talks about how this was her lowest point in terms of her health and her self image. And how she felt like she was gunna pass out after every show. I think it’s really interesting to see how here her physical health and vocal health really connect. I think it was really incredible and inspiring to see how far she’s come. And I really appreciate her being so open about her struggles and normalizing talking about it.
@sarabeth6897 Жыл бұрын
Came her to comment similarly. When Audrey said her posture is better now and she looks stronger now, all I could think of was Taylor talking about feeling like she was going to pass out during shows during this era while she was struggling with her ed.

You mentioned loving the neon and all that. The reason it has this vibe, and she switched up some of the songs to be that rock or Joan Jett feet, is because it’s the 1989 tour. The nineteen _eighty_ nine tour. She gave the entire tour that 80’s vibe. Because she is a genius.

Dearest Audrey, On top of the theatricality and choreography on this, Taylor's FIRST EVER FULL ON POP MEGA STAR TOUR, you have to consider the fact that you have a mega star directing the concert film. Jonas Åkerlund was BIG in our home country (Sweden 🇸🇪🥳) before he was known in America. You might recognize his name because he directed AND won the Grammy for Best Music Video Short Form with Madonna's "Ray of Ligh" in 1998. And then in 2008 he won the Grammy for Best Music Video Long Form for the direction of Madonna's "The Confessions Tour" DVD. His style is very dynamic and energetic. Taylor made a great call asking him to take on this project.

1989 era was like taking the world by storm. Taylor did her best on tour to show the world how greatful she was when 1989, her 1st documented pop album, was at peak of success. She invited a lot of popular artists on stage. reputation tour was Taylor making her own world with the fans who stayed with her after 2016 issue, you know. rep tour was dark, savage and badass while 1989 was iconic, fun and celebration.

After Red failed to get the recognition it deserved, Taylor twisted herself in a pretzel trying to fix everything she was criticized about in the media. And although 1989 won all kinds of awards, the media just made a new list of stuff to criticize her for - then everything blew up with Kanye - and from then on she started caring less and less what the media said - she was never going to please them. (They even criticized her having a special guest at her concerts - saying she was showing off all her a-list friends.) I LOVE 1989 - I just hate thinking about the emotional turmoil she went through. I'm 50 - I feel a bit maternal towards here.

This tour was definitely her first peak, imo. She was dealing with a lot health-wise, which would explain why she was putting so much more into certain notes. She didn't have her normal amount of energy, so she was overcompensating a bit to give it her all. I think she talks about it in her doc Miss Americana

Audrey, since you've done all things 1989, I would love it if you did Taylor Swift at the Grammy Museum. She performs a few songs from 1989 acoustically. It's a great way to hear her voice and what she's doing with it without the production enhancing it. It's just Taylor and a guitar or a piano.

Her high notes are SUPER FUCKING AMAZING!!! (But I also feel/think that her vocal cord state is NOT SO GOOD now, I don't know why, it's been 3 years since her released her latest album Position, which I'm NOT a big fan of, but pov is not bad though. But I RARELY listen to it. Last time when I hear her sing her singles in her debut album, like The Way or whatever, her voice becomes SOOOOOO RASPY, and she couldn't hit some of the highest notes in the songs, I don't know what happened, and I wonder: Is that just meant to happen to the singers who belt A LOT A or something? I don't know, just thinking about it.) Maybe react to her song Break Free live!!! It's one of my FAVORITE songs from along with another song called Into You!!! Actually I might like Break Free more, but Into You is TOTALLY DIFFERENT kind of vibe, so… it's hard to choose one, I guess? Even though I listen to Break Free WAAAAAY MORE, but it still feels weird to JUST say that it's my FAVORITE, but it probably is? Anyways.
