Love this song, I do find the beginning verses to sound like Daydream Believer by The Monkees. Probably not intentional, still great. Excited for new Gorillaz album, wish he wouldn't keep shitting on Blur. Tours,puts album out with them, enjoys himself on stage.Then makes it sound like they are worse than dirt

Well I mean Damon has been quoted a few times saying that On stage he loves preforming and then afterwards goes back into his life and doesn't need it. He has said things along the lines of "I try to avoid being In Blur". I mean just watch the documentaries "No Distance Left To Run" and "New World Towers" he clearly wants to do his other stuff and finds Blur to be a burden. I think he doesn't mind preforming just doesn't want to put the time and work into it that he would with Gorillaz. I mean the "The Magic Whip" probably wouldn't have happened if A) It wasn't recorded quickly B) Graham did all the hard work by editing it down and giving it some vision. Just can't see anymore Blur albums happening if this is the way of working that suites them best. Honestly it kinda of remind me of Tom Delonge (of topic) from Bink 182. He clearly has out grown the Blink 182 style and wants to move on with Angels and Airwaves. I feel the same is with Damon he looks fondly on Blur but his heart and artistic direction belong to Gorillaz (and side projects). However I actually like Tom in AVA over Blink, but prefer Damon in Blur to Gorillaz. I mean I'm excited for new Gorillaz album but wish he could balance both projects and have the drive for each one. Blur can still experiment like Gorillaz but in a different way. In the end as much as I loved "The Magic Whip" (#4 on top Blur albums) its still just a mishmash of songs with no direction and changes up. It keeps it interesting but feel like its just trying to get all the styles from Britpop, Alt Rock, Electronic, Mellow soft songs ,Etc all wrapped into one. "The Magic Whip" is still great and an awesome return. If Blur decide to record again they need to get a sound and RUN WITH IT. Hold nothing back like 13 (even Think Tank had a feel to it). We have our so so safe come back record, now lets Blow the walls down. Doubt it will ever happen.Here hoping. Love Blur, Love Damon, Like Gorillaz ALWAYS.
@yPGzRicardo7 жыл бұрын
Jordan Vail Yeah I agree on the Magic Whip part. It probably wouldn't have happened if not for Graham. But I think we got very different impressions from the documentaries. I think the problem isn't that Damon isn't as interested on Blur as he used to, but than he is interested in a fuckton of things. 'Cause, if you stop to think about it, every project he does aside from Blur and Gorillaz feels like a side project, and nothing more. He doesn't even try to make it look important most of the times. But I do wish Blur would remain performing and putting out songs. I really prefer Damon's presence in Blur to his in Gorillaz. Also, Blur has Graham. Nothing beats Graham
Fun Fact: The reason why some of the chords on his guitar are missing is because he never really got it down on how to play them.
@billyjoe87594 жыл бұрын
yes he's a good piano player but not a good guitarist. Besides that, if you watch him in a lot of lives, he always plays all his chords with the same fingerings, like a E major.
@KTK444 жыл бұрын
@@billyjoe8759 But why does he play a guitar with only four strings? No wonder chords are missing if strings are missing. He can only play root notes I suppose with such setup.
@billyjoe87594 жыл бұрын
@@KTK44 In this song, he only uses the 3rd, 4th, fifth and sixth strings. He doesn't pick the two first with his fingers. My opinion is that he pulled these strings out not to mess up his part on guitar. Because I guess as he can't play the two first strings because they are removed, he doesn't miss the 4 other strings.

It's easier for him this way.
