I love how Damon is so open about how he feels. Most artists these days just swallow how they feel and spout lies to make themselves look better. But he truly speaks how he feels.

How cool is Damon Albarn?..he could easily smile and wink like any idiot pop star when dealing with the pop culture media we have today, but he chooses to conspicuously show disdain and disinterest whenever interviewed....and rather than just use black or "world music" musicians like most western pop artists do for their own benefit, he highlights them importance and relevance..an angry (but still cool) Damon Albarn makes better music

I think in the friday nights one he had sure, the jr show not so much. He seems like a better host in the jr show than he was in fridays with jr. There were episodes he just wouldn't shut up in, and maybe he just has moments where he's like that. Here he was a jackass interrupting Damon so much, but in general the host has to intervene and push the conversations in different ways for entertainment, to get the person talking more and to tell a story or two, but also to just fill the dead air. I wish Parkinson was still doing his show, he really lets the people speak.
@aleksisuuronen5969 Жыл бұрын
Well it's more so that he is part of that mainstream media in many ways so he cannot go too much against it. Like ok it's not as straight forward but think about Russell Brand who had a radio show with him, Now Today for his yt he shows for everything he says the receits. Media themselves covering something and him opening the info from multiple sources, but he is by the same media he quotes called a conspiracy theorist by and would have zero chance of going back to say hollywood (like yes sure for his firing from radio.. there was a good reason 😂 I get that, but the man is quite toned down from those times in many sense). It's kinda in that vain, Jonathan knows how to keep everyone happyhappy and not stick to hornets nests. He isn't anti-establishment or capitalism in any way but all for it. Even at the radio shows time, you could call it radical but he was kinda side-kicking that aspect and let the fall go on Brand. He was the straight man (and everyone saw you could make money off of Brands wit, he was kinda the guy who would say after Brand yeah let's not go that far you crazy crazy guy). Which is fine, Russell was out of control at the time but I'm jut saying that Jonathan has kinda always been very keeping in mind for who he works for and what to mock and what to not. He is very much so part of certain narratives, people presenting them to the public. Comparing his and Brands paths is kinda perfect way to show it. Also just to note that there was an drug fueled "I don't care" Brand, sober sex addicted finding himself going to hollywood Brand, throwing away all of the not needed excess more mature Brand who has been kinda stuck to a mission (you could say he is now addicted to finding out how things in the world work). With Jonathan Ross there is.. Jonathan Ross. (Edit: just when I continued, Damon asks why doesn't Ross make a series about comics. I knew instantly that Ross thinks that there is no money in it and says he thinks There Is Not Enough of Intrest for it. Then makes exactly that my first tought into a joke which I also was expecting since it was so see-thru. That's who he is, tells so much about him).

Yeah he does need to lighten up. He's got great views on life, but he can't make or take a joke for the life of him. He seems like that one great friend you have, but if you go out with the lads or have a party and invite him, he just brings down the mood.

@MidnightAndLulu14 жыл бұрын
@tdk2592 : So do I. He viewed a "Talk Show" opportunity as a platform for (big stretch) public discussion about social and arts issues. He discusses a serious problem with appropriate seriousness--he doesn't shirk his responsibility as an artist and person, just because it's not the kind of thing that garners laughs. There's more to art than satire, irony and "yucking-it-up" for the crowds.

Jonathan’s right, the aim was to raise money for charity for ppl in extreme poverty, it wasn’t PR for Africa. Having African stars there could potentially have turned ppl off from donating and made ppl think these ppl weren’t as destitute as they were, and shifted the focus. Yes it’s political but that doesn’t raise money for charity, you think their govt should be doing better. Damon was right too, but he’s an artist, he doesn’t seem to see the money even in this case, bc he doesn’t do it for money.
@Blueilily6 ай бұрын
No jonathannisnt right he is racist how is showing African artists displaying that Africa is doing okay, because Africans want to sing that means they don't need help? Listen to what your saying.
