Blocking and Tackling KILLED the 49ers' Season

Did the blocking and tackling get worse or did CMC and Greenlaw just cover up for what was already lacking. I mean a big reason we lost the Super Bowl was allowing a free rusher no one picked up.

Our O-Line needs a hard rebuild. Our D-Line might need a similar treatment. We aren't going anywhere but down until our lines are actually solid.

I've been a fan since 1977. The first bone head move I watched the 49ers do? Traded the farm for OJ Simpson. I've questioned alot of their draft picks. I watched them fire the only coach to take them to a Superbowl in 20 years to keep a GM that was useless. Shanahan's a good coach he's just gotten predictable. He also is a total control freak. In the off season, Brock needs to practice throwing a wet ball. It would also do him good to get with his receivers and practice on their own. I understand other quarterbacks do.

There's a reason why purdy did better with JJ than aiyuk this year. As an anticipation thrower, he needs that chemistry to be able to throw them open.

My god they have been awesome. Awesomely awful. My concern is they are not showing they know how to draft, and even if they do get good players, it seems that Kyle doesn’t wanna play them. I think until there’s some assistance up at the coaching level we’re doomed. At least for a while. 😞 😔

Niner fans are excited about a high pick in the draft, but let me remind you of the history of 1st rounders under the Shanahan/Lynch regime '17 Solomon Thomas '18 Mike McGlinchey '19 Nick Bosa '20 Javon Kinlaw '21 Trey Lance '22 ❌️ '23 ❌️ '24 Ricky Pearsall Besides Bosa, all have been busts! The jury is still out on Pearsall, but even then, the 49ers could have had Ladd McConkey. So basically, you're all getting excited for your next first round bust.

Yayy Larry! This year has been so bad for me that for the first time in 40 years of die hard Fandom, I have emotionally checked out. It's broken. There is opportunity to pivot in the off season and re tool but I don't trust them to make those moves right now. Any season where Kyle Shanahan gets outrushed should be a red flag hope they learn some lessons this offseason. Its funny because in this losing season Purdy’s on pace to throw for just under 4000 he was at 4200 last season and when you consider this season included an injury game a missed game a snow game and a rain game that’s not a major down tick. Kittle and JJ could both possibly finish with 1000 yard seasons. Maybe this team just looks so anemic because they haven’t been able to run the ball since Mason’s shoulder injury and stop anyone from running the ball since Greenlaw’s injury in the SB

Niners need to lose not only for a higher draft pick but to finish last in the NFC West & play the Bears, Giants, & Browns next season. No Vikings, Packers, or Lions. No Eagles or Commanders. No Steelers or Ravens. The OTHER NFC West teams will have to play those teams in 2025. LOL. With a cupcake schedule & players healthy, Niners should kick butt next season. 49ers aren't in terrible shape. They will need a defensive coordinator. Greenlaw is coming back from the Achilles. And what's great? He's not being rushed back. CMC will come back fresh. Gurendo showed us something. A top 10 pick, guys, means we can finally get a real right tackle in the draft. Colton Mckvitz can move to the right guard spot. Puni at left with Trent Williams. We need a new center. Jake Brendal is finished . They will need a 3rd linebacker. Dee winters can't finish games. The second rd pick needs to be that tight end from penn State. They need to shore up the interior of the dline. Evan anderson can play, collins, not so sure about jordan elliott. Everyone else in the middle can go, in my opinion. The outside guys are solid. They can draft a developmental prospect. Robert Beal showed nothing. Drake Jackson will be back next season as well.

Its all Shannahan 's fault for hiring Sorensen as the DC He sucks! And lack of discipline on defense, always getting bitten by penalties and movement, and not getting better players who can protect the QB. Their strategy on just depending on money recievers instead of improving the O line too has proven to be a mistake as brock got sacked alot this year and the defense mistackled alot!

@damonbruceplus The concierge local media is an epidemic in the San Francisco Bay Area. Ok so what does that look like ?? Basically the media pretends these good players are great and that very good performances are legendary. And in return the local ballclub ends up adopting a kid gloves approach to the amateurism in the media such as radio stations and podcasts and television- so when a player or coach gets and an insanely dumb question they play along. It's a disease.

Why does Brock Purdy automatically necessitate a $50m plus annual contract? Baker Mayfield, who most unbiased folks would consider much better than Brock. Stronger Arm, Better Athleticism, and does make his teammates better. Baker is on a recent 3 year/ $100m contract. Draft a QB with requisite Top Tier upside (Jaylen Milroe?) to develop. Throw Shanahan a bone and sign the soon to be released Kirk Cousins. There’s always going to be an impenetrable glass ceiling with Brock Purdy as your QB. And that’s if everything is perfect around Purdy.

49ers lost some of their O line. Defense? Don't know what the hell happened there. Let me just say that since moving to Levi's, things have usually gone the wrong direction. I pine for the days at Candlestick, especially under Bill Walsh, who knew what he was doing as a coach. Heck, I pine for Red Hickey and the shotgun at Kezar, with Brodie and Kilmer doing their thing, or the Nolan years, winning the first 3 NFC West Division championships with an aging John Brodie, who should be in the NFL Hall of Fame.
