That's a product called No More Damp from Wykamol, as it's what we are given by the stores at work. It tells you on the packaging to mix with an electric paddle for approximately 3 mins but no more than 5 and to apply it in 2 coats of 1mm thickness (second coat applied 2-5hrs after first coat has hardened but not fully dried) and preferably on a uniform surface as you explained in the video. It also says not to have it mixed with too much water as it will render it ineffective as a waterproof barrier, so you have to ensure it's mixed with the right ratio 4ltrs of clean water to 20kg of the product. It can then be covered with an appropriate product (not gypsum plaster) ideally 48hrs after the 2nd coat has dried fully. It would be great if our surveyors actually read the information sheets of the product as we generally get about 4hrs to sheet up, remove skirting and plaster, 'tank' walls and then apply backing coat (usually sovereign renderlite) 🤷‍♂️

As long as you have that info you can use it if it fails but make sure you let the powers that be know in writing ✍️

@dampsam Doesn't really bother me Simon as I prefer to mix it quite thick to start with to ensure it's well coated and I keep telling those higher up the tree that we can't apply it as per the manufacturers spec due to their time constraints so I always leave the ball in their court 😊

Had some blown plaster underneath a windowsill but after it was knocked off the plasterers PVA wouldn’t dry in the bottom corner where it met with the party wall and he said it was damp. Had a guy with a meter out and it apparently wasnt damp but mould started to grow on the exposed plaster a few weeks later. No signs of penetrating damp from the outside (apart from some cracked masonry paint) any thoughts at all mate? It was snowing on the day the plasterer came round which is why I thought I wasn’t drying cause of how cold it was. I’ve since had a PIV installed in the loft for condensation and mould issues upstairs

@@dampsam you’re such a tease! What qualifications should I look/ask for when booking in a damp surveyor. 99% of companies online want so send some dickhead with a damp meter round to my house for free and tell me I have rising damp! It’s very frustrating

Been plastering 28 years, had my own business for 18... Had enough of not earning half as much as I did 15 years ago so started working for a preservation firm... Surveyors are PCA qualified but don't know what the fuck they're talking about....is it worth my while paying for the course and going on my own?? Bradford

I would say so, if you invest in yourself and get the right team the prices are a lot more lucrative for the companies that do good work
