Inspiration behind this video:
While the October 13 release date for the film is still quite a ways off, some plot details for Damsel have already been released. The upcoming Netflix fantasy, which is directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, will follow Elodie, a young woman who thinks she is destined to become a princess to a perfect prince. These dreams are shattered, however, when she is thrown into a dragon pit as a sacrifice. Brown's character attempts to survive long enough to be rescued by a brave hero but soon realizes that she will have to save herself. As with the Enola Holmes films, Brown serves as a producer on Damsel. The film is written by Dan Mazeau, who is also credited as a writer on 2012's Wrath of the Titans and the upcoming Fast X.
In addition to Brown as the lead character, Damsel also has an impressive supporting cast. After most recently appearing in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Angela Bassett will play Lady Bayford, Elodie's stepmother, in the film. Robin Wright, best known to many audiences for her performances in The Princess Bride, Forrest Gump, and Wonder Woman will also appear as Queen Isabelle. Damsel also features Ray Winstone in an unknown role, in addition to Nick Robinson, Shohreh Aghdashloo, and Brooke Carter.

For some reason, Netflix has the shittiest trailers. The voice over was just ...horrendous. Happy to see Milly in the main role and hopefully someday we will have women warriors in movies wear something more than a strapless top and a skirt for armor (it is not this day but one can hope).

Millie Bobbie Brown has made a career of "female empowerment"... first, with Eleven/Jane in Stranger Things... then Enola Holmes 1 and 2... she's good at playing feisty, intelligent, powerful females. It's not surprising that she'd play a role lampooning the "Damsel In Distress" trope. It's not surprising that insecure men would feel threatened by it, and use the veil of the internet to voice how threatened they are. What is annoying, is the phrase, "... that no man can relate to." It's just wrong. It's possible to be a man, and relate to a woman who has the chops and charisma (power) to carry a whole franchise on her back.
