Over G Fighters • F-15E Strike Eagle (Strategic Mission 6)

Playthrough of the Strategic Mission from the Mission Area 6: Mexican Coast using F-15E Strike Eagle - first attempt after more than a decade, when I played this on XBox 360.
That Mudhen is a beast when it comes to carried ordnance.
The strategic missions (last missions from each area) were the closest thing we got to EA2 aimStrike! type missions during campaign - those had full "taxi-takeoff-mission-landing" structure. Here we don't need to RTB, mission is over right after we hit our last primary target. I wish OGF was more like EA2 but with its wider set of flyable aircrafts and better graphics. In the end OGF was more like first EA, with shorter air skirmishes.
This game still have some texture shimmering problem on Xenia emulator, but at least performance is getting better.

I know this is on an emulator but can we please get this gem in the hands of the modding community and make a pc port with working multiplayer and a mission editor? It would be so fun to make missions and utilize ANY of the campaign maps not just the islands from arena mode.

On the second part of this mission, I actually find that using just guns is easiest on the trains and it scores you bonus points. You only need to glance it with just about a single round, so it lets you dump all of your ordinance on other more significant targets. The trains themselves are worth a ton of too, so the gun bonus on just them alone shoots you up to either an A or S rank.

Using the A10 on this mission is king. Asymmetric load out of 4 aim9’s, 5 mavericks, 3 harms, and two 500 lb gbu’s. For the helo’s you can get gun kills pretty easily. Then like you said get gun kills on the trains. If you’re ambitious you can get guns on the primary vehicle ground targets. Save the gbu’s for the two base structures. Harms for the mud19, and mavericks for secondary ground targets.

@@jjbyrd04 Noted! For some reason I never used it on this mission, despite using it on so many missions that state it'a "bad" for. I especially love using it on that anti-ship mission, since the 30mm is enough to sink ships. The A10 carries enough ordinance to sink the entire fleet on that one!

So hours poured into this game. I've unlocked all airplane. I cheated on hell mode to unlock the f1.

It is, it runs on emulator. It says the F14 bad because it’s a bombing mission and the Tomcat is not that great at bombing compared to the Strike Eagle which is basically made for it

The F14A is bad for ground targets as it does not support ground munitions. If you have the F14B you can use bombs.

Judging by the glitches are you using an emulator or still recording from a real console? Over G/Energy Airforce are my favorite flight games series on consoles. Several times passed opening new planes. Too bad we didn't get to see the next part.

Yes, this is running on Xenia. I remember seeing some promo pics for OGF2 and was hyped. This game made me buy XBox360 in the first place back in 2007. In fact I bought the game before buying the actual console ;)

It saves progress. The only issue is the sporadic texture shimmering on terrain.

I also did it very well for a console but it's like the Energy Airforce series on playstation, a good compromise between console and simulation but no success because what the community of players on this platform wants is action and beautiful graphics is why the unrealistic Ace Combat has more success.🙄

I don't think that's the reason Ace Combat did good. They're simply great games, for the PS2 Era and i think people wanted a good story and relied alot on review magazines. there was less of a "I like this thing, i want a related game to it!" and instead a more "I want to avoid shovelware! let me play what this magazine says!" mentality. If the internet during those times was better and people could do their own research easily, i'm sure many Ace Combat players would've tried the more realistic sim games. For the Xbox era: you have to keep in mind that during the time Over G fighters was made, console aviation-themed games ingeneral were just not too popular. Everyone wanted a hollywood action-boots in the ground FPS game like COD or BF. Even both Ace Combat games from the era were recieved poorly and the series went on a hiatus. Most of the playerbase were also kids with a small attention span. Many good games of every genre died and failed because there just was not a market for it. The recent success of Ace Combat 7 and Project Wingman has brought alot of interest for aviation games as a whole. and alot of DCS players i've flown with had those arcade games be their entry into aviation games, and developed a love for the more realistic gameplay. There is also alot of indie developers making games similar to this one too, a very interesting one being developed is UHawk VR, think of it as a VR version of this game but with Ace Combat style UI and Control Scheme. And let's not forget the already released ones like Tiny Combat Arena, or VTOL VR. If anything we should be glad these arcade games exist to rope more people into playing these kind of games (except War thunder, that game is just awfull despite the "realism" it advertises.) TL;DR Ace Combat did good at first because it was simply a good product, and everyone else didn't because of the circumstances during the time. In the modern day Ace Combat is the reason younger people are starting to play Simulators and Sim-lites.
