@@nomoretwitterhandles as someone who’s been here for 10 years and loves 2008 Phil videos, I think people (including me) are more shocked about how casual they are about these things now. Keep in mind, 2012 was a really really bad year and it destroyed all trust and security in the phandom. Of course they’ve always been unhinged, but not in a way where it was a truly safe space. Not in a way where Dan could smile and not apologize and joke around without being scared of being outed to his family. They’re more blunt and comfortable. If anything, I think it’s people who went through the really bad years that are the most shocked.
