I used to work at Hilltop in housekeeping. I really enjoyed your videos of the hotel. Was like taking a walk down memory lane. I can still remember exactly how each room looked as you walked into them. At the time I worked at the hotel, I also lived on the property. The room you were in around 8:45-9:10 in this video, was the room that my dad and I shared. It is such a shame to see the shape the hotel is in now. I can tell you, I have had personal experiences in this hotel with the paranormal. You did an awesome job! And thank you allowing me to relive this time in my life!

+This is Dan Bell. Its sad more than being weird. The hotel was such a beautiful and amazing place. I have had so many great memories there. That hotel is where i "grew up" and made major changes in my life. I've seen many videos of people walking through and they will say something about a room or something that is on the wall or whatever and I just want to correct them lol Also while watching these videos, yes I see the shape it is in now, but I can also still see what it used to look like. Kind of reminds me of the scene in the movie Titanic at the end when Rose dies and goes back to the ship and its all in perfect condition and such. I will tell you, to me, the best part of living in that particular room in the annex, was watching the deer come up to the window in the mornings. I want to go back so badly and just do a walk thru like you have and so many others have. I can honestly say, I wouldn't be scared. The only thing I would be scared of would be falling through the floor. One day I will return and hopefully the hotel will still be standing!

Juan David Neira I was cleaning the tub in 66 one day when I heard a woman's voice behind me call out "ma'am". Naturally I turned around to answer her and see what she needed, but nobody was there. Of course I searched around for her, and she was no where to be found. Nobody was on that floor while I was up there and all guests had already checked out. There is also on the 2nd floor, a door that leads down stairs into the back of the kitchen. We used those stairs to carry dirty linen down. One day, with my arms full of dirty sheets, I opened the door to head down. I then felt 2 hands on my shoulders that shoved me. Had it not have been for the "overhang", I would have fallen. I don't remember the room number, but on the second floor, after you come up the stairs, you turn left and then left again to face a long hallway. At the end of that hallway is the fire escape/stairs. If you walk down that hallway, its either the first door or the second door on the left hand side that always stayed ICE cold. It didnt matter how high you turned the heater on, that room never warmed up. The door knob was ALWAYS ice cold, even when the rest were decently warm. I never truly experienced anything weird in the room itself (other than the out of normal coldness), although I always would get that eerie feeling from being in there, as if I was being watched. I know there is another room on the 3nd floor that they always had locked. We were never allowed to enter it. It is right at the top of the stairs and immediately to the right, heading to the 3rd floor. (I wanna say something 25? don't remember) They had found a woman dead in that room years and years ago. (Before I started working there, happened in the late 90's I think). Nothing real creepy about it, but I've never seen the inside of that room. The biggest experience that has happened that I know of, actually happened to my father. He worked the front desk at night. Just to give you an idea about my dad, He is a big man, very intimidating and was a HUGE sceptic. Did not believe in the paranormal at all. He was one of those that would laugh at you if you even mentioned something unexplainable happening. Anyway, He was working the front desk one night, It was about midnight and he started to walk around the hotel locking the entrance doors (there were quite a few). When he walked past the front desk he seen a man on the security camera walking through the lobby towards the bar down the hallway. Well when he looked in the direction of the man, there was no body there, But he was still there on the security camera screen. Then he disappeared. Well My dad thought his mind was playing tricks on him and shrugged it off. He then headed towards the foyer so he could lock both of those doors as well. As he went through the foyer towards the very front entrance door, He was shoved out of the hotel and heard the door lock behind him. He turned around to try and get back in and on the inside of the door stood an older gentleman, in full uniform (described him to me as maybe a general during the civil war). He said the man stood there with a grin on his face and his arms crossed on his chest. Dad said he stood there for about 30 mins just staring at this man. All of a sudden the man vanished and my dad was able to get back into the hotel. To this day, My dad is a believer and still breaks out into a sweat when he tells anyone about his experience. I've heard little children laughing, I've seen things get moved and misplaced only to be found somewhere else that it shouldn't even be. Doors would slam shut for no reason. Pretty interesting hotel!

A night series seems a bit sketchy. You're definitely more likely to run into homeless people trying to sleep. There's also more of a risk of cops since you'll be pretty obvious with your bright light shining out the windows. Then there's the usual risk of other unsavory people, but that's probably just as likely during the day. Anyway, if you do it, I'll certainly watch, it will be interesting, but as always, *stay safe*.
@ThisisDanBell9 жыл бұрын
+DasVERMiT I don’t think I’ll be exploring properties near urban areas. I’ll probably head out to the sticks for this one. I definitely DON’T want to run into people. Ruins the video.

+This is Dan Bell. I think it's a great idea, if your up for it. But I'd say bring some still cameras to set up and watch other parts of the place for any "paranormal" activity happening in the ambience. Also, an idea for the title lol: The hours of return. (Meaning the hours in which the places come back to life with nature and creepy crawlies.)

Really awesome, Dan; thank you for exploring it. When I lived a half-hour away from there, my girlfriend and I would go and visit Harpers Ferry every two weeks, and I would look at the hotel and wanted to see the inside; it was still operational, then in the early 2000's, so there was no exploring it. The area is great, the town is friendly and we loved the views of the rivers. Once I heard about it being abandoned, I wanted to explore it. Never got the chance to, sadly.

Enjoyed the backstory and insight to the off camera stuff. 60 fps was noticeable when I watched the original. Very smooth. As for nightime visits, they're cool and add a degree of tension, but I miss seeing all the vegetation growing over the windows and having a viewing angle wider than the flashlight. But, would definitely allow for more content from locations you've already visited

I deleted my post and then went to the dead motel series and saw that is IS the one! You didnt disappoint with #6-soooo neat to hear the back story of things. I was laughing my butt off when you were getting your notes from under your dinner plate and it was all clanking. Such realness. I loved it. One thing I learned is you go to these places at 2-3 oclock in the morning! I dont know how you do it! I would be so afraid its not funny. I couldnt even go with someone like you know how you bring your friends. Id be wanting to stay right next to the camera person the whole time freaking out at every little thing! Can you imagine if I went with you say, and Im clinging to you freaking out and youd be like shut up already and Im wrecking the whole thing. LMBO. Bot lets hear the cutting room floor on that! HAAA! I thoroughly enjoy your commentary, Dan. "Cutting Room Floor" is great. I lean toward daytime exploration because there's more to see and because my own interest is in the exploration site itself and how it gets my imagination going rather than in an emotional reaction to it but I understand that you're interested in making what you referred to as short horror films so there's different reason/approach for the video and that nighttime filming can increase the tension, excitement and drama. Whatever time of day or night you do your exploring I know I'll enjoy the video. Just keep following your own artistic vision and goals and we your subscribers will be following right behind you and appreciating your work.--- Also did you notice how many windows there are within the hotel and that just look into other rooms? Though it's not quite the same as the off-kilter Crain mansion I wonder if Shirley Jackson who wrote "The Haunting of Hill House" would have liked staying at Hilltop House!

On a side note, anyone else see the bullet in the box with the empty beer bottles in the room with the piano?
