I am not a person who watches a TV program and gets all into it. Nor do I typically care anything about the usual crap that the big 4 channels put out. When I first came across this program it hit me in some cherished moments of my youth's way. I respect these programs interaction and due respect for the generation who came before. Mr. Blankenship will never be gone, due to this, and that is a very good tribute to the man and his legacy. To the brothers, now both Mr. Nolan and Mr. Blankenship are watching you. Both with great anticipation and respect. Continue earning that. Now go find the treasure!

I love watching the show, I never miss it. It is great seeing the different generations all adding their different gifts to the same goal, finding the treasure! All are valued, the young and old alike. Everyone has value. Dan's mind was always sharp as a tack and he had a great memory, even though he was in his mid 90's!!! It will be a GREAT LOSS for the team. Society could learn a lot from them all. They respect the environment, the government, they get the needed permits, they respect the union workers. They respect each other. The respect all of the new people that come to oak island. They respect the young, and named one of the wells after Craig's late son. They repected the old and always couldn't wait to show Dan the latest find AND get his recollection and opinion on it. This is a great, wholesome family show. It is sad that there are so few of them. Dan will be missed by me and thousands more too! GOD BLESS him!

Condolences to Dan’s family and friends. I too read the Readers Digest article as a young man. It made me wonder why it was so hard to find the treasure. Dan’s insights on the TV show and all the hard work of the Laguina’s team gives a full picture as to the monumental tasks facing the searchers. Good by Dan. Rest easy that your part of the quest laid the foundations of recent and tomorrow’s discoveries.

Karen Yeoman - At the start of, I believe 3rd or 4th from last show of the season, there was a message on the screen of the passing of Dan. They had already finished filming all the shows for the season so nothing else could be said in the shows. I’m sure something will be done next season in his honor.

Mr. Blankenship was an unassuming role model - the best kind. He taught us to be passionate and pursue our dreams whatever they may be; brought character to the forefront; all the while demonstrating the value of hard work and team effort. You knew as a viewer without it promoted or declared that he was a reverend family man loved by many. The appeal of Oak Island show is not just the treasure but the display of friendships and belief in each other on display. Thank you for allowing the personal and somewhat private side of Mr Blankenship to be exposed. David my thoughts and prayers with you and your family. TV can be a beautiful medium if used correctly, and it has been in this case because Dan became over the years a treasured individual in my family despite the absence of a first hand handshake or hello. Your followers are more than that - they too have become family and Dan’s character is a testament to that. May God bless him and all he touched. Thank you for allowing us such a wonderful opportunity to be a part of. We will miss him and mourn for his family.
