Coach Campbell was one of my coaches for a year between him leaving the league and then getting involved with coaching in the NFL. He and his cousin - Jeremy Calahan- were our o-line and d-line coaches at a nationally ranked program in Texas. Both he and his cousin brought a mentality to the game and to life that was contagious. Although football didn’t carry on long into college, I attacked my academics with the same spirit he so deeply engrained. I was able to make it to Harvard for grad school. I didn’t and don’t have a ton of natural talent.. but he showed me a different path. One that I had some control of the outcome.

He realized when he said we're more talented now that that's only because of that first team starting out 0-10 and not giving up to go 3-3 to end the season and give Dan the chance to keep building this team to what it is today. The team helped him lay a foundation that looks like it could last a long time with Brad at GM.

Too many people forget that team. Yeah, the lost a lot of games. But if you look at the tape you can see there was already something different; they fought hard, for 60 minutes, and never backed down, even when up against a clearly superior team.

Coach Campbell wears his emotions on his sleeve. He reminds me of Dick Vermeil back in the day. I just hope he doesn't burn out like Coach Vermeil did his first time around the track. When it means that much to ya that can happen, regardless of what profession you're in. Win lose or draw, it's tough not to love this guy. Us die-hard Lions fans who have suffered for years and even those who are new to the game are behind ya 10,000% Coach. Bring us home that Lombardi and you'll get streets named after you and free lunches in the state of Michigan until the end of time. Sparky Anderson put it best. When you win a title in Detroit they love ya forever. I can't wait to see the victory parade a SB win will generate. Millions will be there. Now go bite some kneecaps!

I'm a Lions fan, but I don't live there anymore. It makes me sooo happy to see the fans finally get something, a team, a coach, that they can just let it go and be rightly enthused about. They've been BS'ed for so long, but this Lions team because of Campbell, and others, is the genuine article. This is going to get solid for quite a while and it's a great thing to see!
