It would be awesome to see Andy Murray on this podcast now he’s retired!

im still recovering from John Wertheim describing Dan Evans as having a cockney accent 🤣🤣🤣🤣

That's exactly why I came to the comments. Dan's a Brummie, thru & thru.

Spot on Andy. Huge kudos to Dan Evans. Also this was the most fitting way for Andy to end, with them digging out 2 against the odds wins, facing down match points..on court interviews and tributes are nice, but this was the essence of Murray, scrapping to the end. Without Dan we wouldn't have got that.

Dan Evans deserves more credit, not only for this but for the majority of his career imho. He's solidly inside the top 50 and on form, top 30 (career high 21). Hasn't always made the best choices, has rubbed people up the wrong way (I mean you, LTA) but there is talent there...

It was a wonderful moment! Another sidebar I've just watched Andy v Pete way back when roddick was 20yrs old, quarter's us open. Pete took it in 3 very quickly. Andy didn't particularly bat an eyelid, he just kept going trying yo make something happen. (Think he was suffering from blister on his foot). But no moaning no histrionics,. A great lesson for the younsters these days in how to hold yourself when the going gets tough!

Huge play by Dan. Tremendous respect when draw was inevitably going to be super soft too.

Well pointed out Andy never even thought about that (defending his points). Dan what a guy and true repect towards Murray and even a tear at the end. While others pullout last minute

Didn't know that about Evans. Good on him! I like watching doubles but a major problem for spectators is we don't know the teams. It's easy to become a fan of a pairing that lasts - The Woodies, Pam & Martina, the Bryan Brothers. Even McEnroe & Fleming was a recognizable team. But unless a pair forges a team identity, it's going to be tough slogging to whip up interest in doubles.

SO true! Vaaast majority of the time people watching won't be able to tell if they aren't really quite as good as the singles players as the singles players play some questionable doubles anyway, awareness & branding of the teams makes way more difference to interest.
