1973-74 Nashville Armory headliner Joe Walsh and Barnstorm. Joe comes out after the lights dim and grabs a mike. He said (or he was like for genX) something to the effect of he had recently met this guy in Nashville and invited him to open at the nashville show on Joe's tour. Out walks Dan Fogelberg who played all of "Home Free". Blew us away and both my friend and I bought the album the next day.

I sent this to a freind and just said "Wait for it." I love seeign him just enjoying playing for awhile before breaking into the song. Live music gives so much of a fuller picture of the the artist. It is so goos soemone captured these moments It is so sad that he is gone. So many of his lyrics were about the time and seasons...

I remember this song was on the radio when I had my young heart broken for the first time I was 16. I just loved his music then and do now. To loose someone with such heart.

My wife and I saw this show at the Beacon Theatre in NYC. I'd always loved his songs and sung along with them, but didn't realize what an amazing musician he was before seeing him unaccompanied on guitar and piano, playing both beautifully and somehow conveying the harmonies with only his solo voice.

They just unveiled the Dan Fogelberg memorial in Peoria over the weekend and this song was chosen. It's one of my favorites. The ending of this video brought me to tears...it really got to me that Dan was waving goodbye....

"There is no Eden or heavenly gates?" Think again. There is a God who loves you and made us in his image. He loved us enough to take on human form and die so that we could be with him forever. We are not perfect, but He is able to perfect us.

Wow. You missed the point of the song entirely.

Excellent music...very poor choice of lyrics at the end...when he denies that "there is no Eden, or heavenly gates"--atheism/denial of Christianity is a fool's errand...not to mention a denial of his entire thesis to the song...since if God does not exist, not only is life meaningless with no plan, but a cruel, absurdity (which is clearly not the case).
