Just a quick one today looking at a brand new string library that I really like. Dan Keen's Soft String Textures brings a very contemporary and human approach to solo strings at an affordable price. Drop them over a synth pad or into a piece of incidental music to lift it out of the ordinary and into a really distinctive and effective sound world. Let's check it out!

Hi Guy, long time subscriber. Would love to see you do a tutorial on making Disco out of the box, or modern disco like 'Nu Disco' and what virtual instruments you would choose to make it and how you'd articulate those. Especially disco strings and virtual bass guitars for funk etc. All the best and have a great Christmas :)

Love your reviews, Guy. I suggest you take a look at the new MuseScore 4 release. It comes with a fairly revolutionary instrument library and live playback engine that is... shocking. Open-source and free. A perfect tool for folks that frequent your space here. Take care!

Nice! Reminds me of a couple of Spitfire Audio libraries such as the British Drama Toolkit and Ólafur Arnalds Evolutions.

It's an interesting sound. But all this random bowing makes it difficult to use within a tempo synced song. It sounds really nice played on its own, freely though.

I picked this up two weeks ago. Had to. I love any string Lib with textures. Have all the OA stuff and love it. I also love the quartet in OT time micro/macro. Have some Ben Osterhouse as well. I've been eyeing the felt instruments stuff for a while now too but haven't pulled the trigger yet.

Super library to have in the arsenal of those close, intimate and emotive string collections that steer away from the conventional articulations. Very reminiscent and thus complementary to Spitfire's British Drama Toolkit and the lovely Wrongtool's Feathersome Strings.

Dan is an actual professional . This library does not attempt to achieve everything but rather achieves some specifically designed articulations and evocations thereof. It is a sonically superb library and a card in your hand in the journey of composition . Merry Xmas 🙏🙏🏿👍

I’m REALLY liking this library. I can gear it very easily in a minimalist score for a very stark film. Side question, if Cinematic Rooms is not in the budget right now, which reverb would you recommend? I do have the Lexicon 224 from UAD, but I’m nit sure if that’s any good for orchestral work. I’m only working in stereo if that matters.
