Ouch, this interview was really weak. Dan no doubt is a huge success but interviews with him are always weak. He doesn’t tell you shit, he never tells you what’s really going on or what he really knows. Can’t blame him though, he keeps his cards close.

Bitcoin really should not hold any intrinsic value except in its utility in dispensing payment. It could be 0.01 today or 50k tomorrow depending on liquidity inflation or the economy. Therefore its creator could at its discretion allocated a fixed value and the coin would function just the same. It's not like gold where you can actually hold, hence the trading of its value due to its qualities. The thing that sensationalized bitcoin is the excesses of qe and its move to mainstream demand craze which drove up its perceived value. You'll need lots of inflation for years and years as well as additional retail demand to provide continuous growth.
