The 1994 team was very close to the 1992 team. 1996 had a handful of the same players in 1992. Those guys still understood how to play an all around game. Today is a positionless game where big men are not as skilled inside. Teams back then would destroy these teams just by pounding it inside. Defense is not played nearly to the level it was back then and the physical play of the 80s and 90s is not matched by today’s players. Different era with different philosophy.

The draft take is all wrong. What the NbA is missing out on is the brand building that used to happen in college. What’s happening now is just ending up with lots of nameless faceless players.

Let’s not overreact to cooper Flagg having a good day in these scrimmages. This may be less of how great he is and more of an indictment on the NBA players and their effort levels in these games. They won this game by 1 point. We all know no one on that USA team was trying to stop him.

Isn’t Cooper too young to have qualified for the 2024 NBA draft. He is only 17 and graduated from high school a year early. So he, and all of the members of his ‘original’ high school class, can’t be drafted until 2025. He essentially graduated early to spend a year at Duke.
