Hey Derek... don't forget... Shohei can steal bases... including 3rd base. He'll run twice and pressure you that way. Betts, Freeman, and Teo can hit too! So if you put Shohei on, you'll be paying attention to him running on you and making mistakes to the next three guys you don't wanna make mistakes to and getting two runs instead of one. Good luck!

Nah. Ohtani’s homer was whatever. We have players who can hit bombs too. What caused the win was the errors by the Padres. Which gave LA free runs. If the Pads clean things up, they will still take this series. Padres have a better lineup 1-9. If Solano would have made contact with bases loaded it would have been a different outcome. That’s baseball.

It is true that this is Ohtani's first postseason experience as a major leaguer, but he has plenty of experience in big games and on big stages, and that should never be overlooked. Ohtani's ultimate goal is to make the postseason and win games. All of his daily efforts have been focused on achieving this goal from the beginning of the season. Why? Because it is the most difficult goal to achieve, not only in terms of ability, but also in terms of luck and probability. He came to the majors because he wants to challenge this difficult goal in the majors. As he often says, “Personal records will naturally follow if you work hard every day to win a championship. (He means that his ultimate goal is to become a world champion, and his personal record is a side effect of the process of achieving that goal.) Another important point is that Shohei Ohtani is strong on the big stage, he has acquired enough experience on the big stage to know how to fight in short-duration games and how to keep his heart in the game. Major league commentators refer to this as “the first postseason challenge of Ohtani's career. But this is misleading. It makes him sound like a novice or inexperienced postseason player. Ohtani has experienced the big stage of the Koshien Tournament, and he has also won the Japanese championship in the postseason and in the short-season in Japan's professional baseball. He was also a WBC champion, as you know. Since he was a teenager, he has trained himself to win in the Koshien Tournament(high school national tournament, a big, short-decision game where one loss can end everything.)He probably experienced the joy and difficulty of winning there at a young age, and learned the joy of winning and how to win in the big, high-profile games. The postseason is a nerve-wracking, short-decision arena in which it is very difficult to perform at our normal level of strength for the season. It is a different way to fight and a different state of mind than in the regular season. But he has acquired the know-how necessary to win on the big stage, how to maintain his normal state of mind, and how to show his normal strength through his experience of competing in big games since he was a teenager. When the postseason is over, it may prove to be so.

Understandably Ohtani gets the lion's share of attention and accolades, but baseball people appreciate how valuable Teo is to this team - on the field and off! In fact, so much focus on Ohtani may have contributed to Teo's record season - unlike in Seattle he has less pressure on him not being the guy the team depends on for big hits and rbi's. I think the same is true for Mookie, Freddie and all the hitters - having the Ohtani monster in their lineup reduces the pressure on them as individuals while inspiring them to contribute to the best of their abilities.

What would Vin Scully say about Ohtani? He would marvel at him when he was with the Angels, and now that he's a Dodger, he would be stoked! Can you imagine Ohtani, if he was born in a different era, like in the 70's and 80's, when Scully, along with Jerry Doggett, and Ross Porter, called the Dodger games? What about when Don Drysdale left the Angels as their main play-by-play announcer, and became the Dodgers play-by-play announcer. He would be amazed by Ohtani! Perhaps he will one day pass Barry Bonds as the home run king of baseball.

So these pro baseball players don't understand why you don't want the bases loaded with an always dangerous Mookie Betts coming up next?

The difference between Ohtani and Betts is crazy though. If you take the ops+ abover 100 of both mookie and freddy and add it together you get 88. Ohtani was an ops of 190. He is literally twice as good this year as betts when compared to the average. 190 ops+ vs 145 ops+ is a crazy difference.

yep...they have to hype Ohtani when he does everything for the Dodgers increase the mlb $, no pitching this yr....this is why his offensive stats are so good...he is an amazing talent, but Dodgers are not in the position they are in without him ...tom brady style imo

4:58 I'm going to disagree with Jeter to walk Ohtani, as it's proven wrong twice in the regular season to have boosted Mookie behind him to hit a HR or so, leading to similar disastrous results. 🧐
@yummytummy88
@yummytummy88 2 ай бұрын
And yet the gamble is 3-3 tie score. So who is a more deadly hitter this year. How many HR does Mookie betts have this years vs Ohtani? Numbers don't lie. Betts pays pitcher pay twice this year vs 54 hrs. Math is the most important class for all kids and adults and should be all pitching coach and manager.

To me, he makes sense for people that wants to pitch better players that’s a challenge for a picture. Remember that so don’t talk like that. If you don’t know the feelings of the players, there’s some players they play for fun. There’s some other players they play for money from the, he wants to be a better picture that’s why he did it as he
