Even as a kid, I hated most of the live action shows on Nick besides Ned's Declassified or maybe Drake and Josh. And unfortunately growing up in the 2000s, I couldn't get away from them. It wasn't until I stumbled on the then called NickToons Network around 2007/2008 and it was WAY more appealing because in the 2000s, it was trying to stand out from the other networks with it's bumpers, ads and shows. Many of which had older shows I discovered for the first time like Ren and Stimpy, My Life As A Teenage Robot, Mr Meaty and especially Invader Zim, and original shows like The Secret Show, Kappa Mikey, El Tigre, Edgar & Ellen, Making Friends. That era of NickToons is extremely underrated when it comes to animation.

I feel Disney Channel is in that same spot and nick in terms of relevance. Their cartoons are really all they have now and most people aren't going to Disney Channel itself to watch them. This is evident if you look at the Chibi anniversary short that they released last year to celebrate the channel "Happy Birthday, Disney Channel", and no joke, they didn't even reference any of their live action series made after Wizards of Waverly Place...from 2007. The only exception were any of their movies that got popular enough to franchise (Descendants & Zombies) and KC Undercover so they could include Zendaya in it because she herself is popular. But it really illustrates how much things have shifted from how things were 15 years ago.

It's sad that Nickelodeon throughout the 2010's never had an actual renaissance like Disney and Cartoon Network did, with a bunch of their shows getting canned way too soon for arbitrary reasons while putting out subpar or low quality shows, with exception of The Loud House (which that show is already getting stale by the first couple of episodes). Nickelodeon barely innovates and push the animation medium during that time and plays it way too safe while multiple bad actors in that studio doing all the heavy lifting .

The rise and fall of each department is oddly perpendicular and the dictate that all new cartoons needed to have Spongebob levels of success is "incompetent" to the point of malice. 10:48 Because agencies that deal with child actors have deep ties to the record label industry. Remember that Miley Cyrus and Arianna Grande both got a start to their careers with Hannah Montana and VicTORIous respectively, and that’s only the tip of the iceberg. Why do you think FRED had a music album after the first movie came out? Why do you think they attempted to make Miranda Cosgrove into a popstar at one point? Why do you think Kidz Bop exists? It’s the music industry with all of these connections, and they put these kids into sitcoms as a marketing avenue for their music careers.

I've long held reservations about Dan Schneider's work, save for a few exceptions like The Amanda Show and Good Burger. Recent revelations have only confirmed my unease, prompting me to disengage from his productions. Nickelodeon urgently needs to overhaul its management practices, implementing stringent protocols to prevent individuals like Schneider from exerting unchecked influence. Regarding Rugrats 2021, it's release amid the SpongeBob spinoff discourse was ill-timed, even though that wasn't the intent. Being CGI (even if executive mandated) and the overblown controversy of Betty being a lesbian (Which mainly started because of that AV Club article) didn't help. Despite this, the reboot manages to honor the original while incorporating modern elements. While it doesn't surpass its predecessor, it offers some solid episodes, sometimes coming close to reaching the highs of the original Rugrats, though you would be willing to have to overlook the CGI and certain changes. I hope Nickelodeon heeds these concerns and redirects its focus accordingly.

It's quite known now that most of the cast are genuine scum, or enablers at the very least. Watching the show fills me with dread now. Hearing Alexis' story the first time was so heartbreaking. It's one thing that Jamie, Sean, Matthew, Erin, Christopher, Kristin, Victoria and much more bullied and isolated the poor girl (and whom haven't apologized for it as adults 🤨), but even more that Dan himself participated in this too. SpongeBob Squarepants was my favorite show growing up, until around the time I was 12 or 13 where I started to lose interest in it, but even then Sponge continued to be one of my favorites until I turned 17. At the same time as SpongeBob I also loved Jimmy Nuetron, Fairly Odd Parents, Back at the Barnyard, Paw Patrol, the 2012 TMNT. Granted I did watch a fair share of Cartoon Network shows, as well as Phineas & Ferb and Gravity Falls on Disney, but Nick was my go-to. I never really watched the sitcoms on any of the channels with the only Nick one I cared about being iCarly and Disney being Suite Life on Deck (never watched the original), so it's sad hearing about all of this now. What makes it worse is that my favorite show when I was 13 was replaced by another Nick show, The Loud House, which was then replaced by My Little Pony not soon after. Now, I don't really care about Nickelodeon much and prefer some of the cooler, lore filled shows on Cartoon Network, but there are still 3 shows I like from Nick: Avatar, iCarly, and I want to check out Invader Zim. Never seen it. Oh and maybe Jimmy Neutron and Robot and Monster. It hurts that Nick had all of this shady stuff behind the scenes, especially with one of my favorite shows right now being created by Dan. I like to separate the art from the artist but I really don't know how my veiwpoint on iCarly will be, since... Hello! Live action! Watching and seeing Dan's victims while they are there! Their sitcoms aren't relevant much either but their cartoon output has been better; they have huge devoted fanbases, they get promotion and reruns, and even shows that got cancelled like The Owl House and The Ghost and Molly McGee didn't get screwed as badly as Nickleodeon would screw over shows (they weren't shoved onto Disney XD, they still got promotion, and, more importantly, their creators got plenty of time to give their shows a proper finale).

Nicktoons golden age for shows 1991-2007
@DanknDerpyGamer8 ай бұрын
@@XxDyneXxFreeEnergyx Personally, I'd move the date back to the very end of the 80s since it was (again IMO) 1989-1991 that saw the birth of so many shows that wee icons and helped launch Nickelodeon further and further.

@@boydixonentertainment I’ll admit that the other KZbinrs I watch make videos dedicated to one specific nicktoon that got shafted, like Harvey beaks or rise of the tmnt But This is the first time I’ve seen a more popular KZbinr actually talk about the pattern of them generally just sabotaging new nicktoons in favor of the same 4 older nicktoons over and over again. And how there’s only a few currently running nicktoons besides SpongeBob

Look on the bright side. Surely no one who was on the show has majorly screwed up by helping to break up a marriage where a child was involved!

You know, as much as I agree about your rant on the state of Nickelodeon nowadays, I don't think it really matters in the long run. Kids still watch Nickelodeon in their masses (including my 11 year old brother), and probably ten years from now youtubers will say how great Nick was during their childhood with Loud House and Patrick Star's show or whatever and will complain on how bad it is in current time. It's a neverending cycle.

Onistly after this, I hope Nickelodeon falls down. It doesn't matter if they change what happened in the past is unforgivable

It’s far far too late for the past. Least they can do is just try to recover from this and continue to lead the company forward.

I feel awkward watching anything Dan Schneider created. Not Nickelodeon entirely, I can watch "Thundermans" perfectly fine, but something like "Drake & Josh", "Zoey 101", "iCarly", "Sam & Cat", "Henry Danger", "Game Shakers", and even my fav show ever "Victorious", I get this bad feeling that I shouldn't watch them, which sucks bc all of those shows meant something to my childhood.
