Don and Bas are two of my all time favorite fighters as well as interviews, when Don started laughing his ass off about Bruce Jenners I loved seeing everyone reactions. I think Don just does not care if he ever make a bazillion dollars and just is trying to get thru life with all of his sever pain and injuries while Bas and Dan still have to keep there opinions in check due to the times so while they may or may not agree the quickly wanted a subject change while The Predator just keeps on laughing... just cracked me up, Thank You.

When people ask me who my favorite fighter of all time is, my answer is always Bas Rutten. I love watching his style because he always very loose, fast, hit the high low and never left out the basics in his elite execution. Always found the opening and could setup a liver shot like no other. Almost met him in Oregon but I was drinking back then and I think he made the wise choice not to interact with me and waved and turned left. Lol I wasn't even mad. i get it. 12 yrs sober now though 👍

I'm 40 now. I read a book from my middle school library (must've been like '95 or '96) because I was interested in "eastern thought " LOL (a phase) about Yoga/Hinduism but it turned out to have a pretty comprehensive section on just breathing and some diet. There was detailed history combined in there too. There was a good part on "Belly Breathing" and they explained how westerners were called "mouth breathers" as a sort of insult (this becomes more relevant in recent years) by them. I became obsessed with this Breathing and it became unconscious automatic for me. Bas knows wassup.

Two guys broke into my house and were robbing it when I came home one boxing day (no pun intended). We fought for 5 minutes. I was out of breath. It ended w me chasing them down the street. I was hyperventilating but the adrenaline was intense. I couldn't breathe but I could still run. I thought doing that too long would probably kill me. It felt like I was physically redlining. The police phoned me and I was still chasing and talking. I couldn't believe it was physically possible. Normally I'd be gassed and out
@Ihateutubecontextandsensorshit2 жыл бұрын
How long did the adrenaline "high" last? That situation might keep me up for a week.
@nathanv.43972 жыл бұрын
@@IhateutubecontextandsensorshitI should say I was gassed out but still able. I was uncomfortable for a couple days. It's hard to say. I was furious in the moment. It slowly settled I think but it was peaking for 15 min maybe. I just kept hyperventilating and the cops were questioning me but adrenaline was still there. I wasn't emotional outside of anger -and I thought it would help. (It was just a little more intimidating to them but no help). The adrenaline really kicked in when I was on top of one. Tried to subdue him with a collar choke. He bit my thumb. Had to get it out. Harder to control as the wall prevented my wedge (knee) from contact w the floor. Got hooks under eventually as the other guy tried to pull me off. He couldn't; I tightened my jacket around myself like you would a gi. Started hitting me. Thumb was free at this point but I was catching my breath so I just shelled for a bit kinda while on-top of this other guy and that is definately when my adrenal glands started to really work. One guy I recognised. Didn't know him. But I think just the familiarity helped reduce the shock level for sympathetic nervous system, and the fact that I'm acquainted with a little martial arts but I am by no means formidable. I think maybe the adrenaline spiked more bc I chased them (took the nervous system towards the danger altho they were running at that point).
@Ihateutubecontextandsensorshit2 жыл бұрын
@@nathanv.4397 duration of "effort" is a massive factor in how it is experienced physically but your fitness was key. It sounds like you handled yourself admirably. Stay safe out there.
@nathanv.43972 жыл бұрын
@@Ihateutubecontextandsensorshit thanks. I am novice but the experience was a learning one for sure as far as self defense goes. This sounds silly but in a sense I can appreciate the fiction of Batman. He verges on omnipotent of the peripheral dangers of combat situations. Many times I reflected on my situation and certainly would have handled some things differently, technically, verbally, emotionally, critically (cognitively). My knees were fudged. Wasn't in tune with that until we wrestled before we hit the ground... I hadn't eaten that day or well in general lately, plus I am a courier. I chose grappling over striking. It wasn't until I was full committed (striking) rather than "trying not to escalate violence." BJJ is a good diffuser for one person. Lol. I am not Batman

@@nathanv.4397 I'm assuming you're on the UK given the boxing day remark in your original comment. Your lucky to be alive man, a two on one situation is hard to win for even highly trained individuals, also knowing the person could have been an issue as he may have chosen to end you given that you could identify him. Personally I would have just killed them, as I conceal carry my 9mm wherever I go, understandably this wasn't an option for you..
