@@wyldeyouth Maturity is not a catch-all, there's a lot facets to maturity. One may excel in personal reflection, a crucial aspect of maturity, but struggle with emotional regulation. In many respects Eddie exhibits a lot of maturity, and in other situations he's quite juvenile, class-clown energy often common from hyper-active social types (myself included). I think people who regard themselves as very mature are often taking themselves too seriously, and humor is a very distinct category from much of what represents maturity.

Come on Eddie don't bring up the arm excuse y u lost the fight. If u were that concerned about the arm u shouldn't of fought or at least delay it till ur arm was fully healed
@bulletproof1581 Жыл бұрын
I'll explain why he did this because it's fairly obvious if you know the timeline. So first of all Eddie and Thor weren't going to fight each other in a month or 2, they just weren't considering 1 they had never boxed before, and 2 how much they hated each other and didn't want to lose, because of this everyone and their aunty were bitching and complaining horrendously about how the fight wasn't happening soon enough. This is why when Eddie tore his bicep tendon off, he felt like he could only delay the fight for so much longer. Blame toxic pressure on the internet, not Eddie for coming into the fight broken. If you know about gaming, it's the same bullshit that happened with Cyberpunk, people toxicly bitched and complained horrendously about how Cyberpunk should be out already, then when it got rushed because of peoples complaining, people then complained about how buggy it was.

Disrespectful towards Thor ever since him and Bryce cheated Thor out of WSM 2017 gold! Disrespect is Eddies middle name. Nice that he got humbled in the ring. But I doubt Eddie will ever hand over that 2017 title to its rightful owner. Massive kudos to Thor for letting go of that, and putting it all behind him. Thor has advanced massively in maturity as a bloke these last 5 years. Eddie is the same today as he was at 17.

@@510midget8 1. Thor didn't cry. He also lifted more weight in the DL to take the record away from Hall, AND Thors looked easy. Eddie almost died and was hospitalized. 3. Even with being robbed of his rightful 2017 trophy, Thor has won FAR MORE world class international contests than Eddie, and also kicked the shit out of him in the ring. Great podcast but Eddie almost insinuating that he lost the fight to thor because he tore his bicep is ridiculous he lost because thor was significantly better
@johanbarnard3435 Жыл бұрын
Fact is he did tear his bicep and he did fight compromised. Everyone could see that from the 1st ring of the bell. Never threw a single proper punch with his left the entire fight and mostly tried to block woth only one hand all fight. It was as clear as day. I didn't know about the injury when I watched the fight and kwpt saying something is wrong just by looking at how he was moving. Then I went back to look on his channels history and found the Tear operation video. It's a live video bro go and watch it there is no faking a live Opp like that. I've torn muscles in my legs and it took me 16months before I could run again. Now try and throw a punch in a boxing match 6months after ypu completely detached your bicep. The impressive thing was still knocking Thor down twice with only one functional arm

@@johanbarnard3435 there’s no doubt he did tear his bicep. The biggest issue for Eddie was not training like a boxer. He ignored fundamentals and thor didn’t. So after the first initial burst of energy and big punches from Eddie thor took over by actually boxing him.
@johanbarnard3435 Жыл бұрын
@@decentcomment9447 that I can agree with. Eddie bet all his money on knocking him out quickly. Mostly because he knew without his keft arm he stood no chance in an actual boxing match and possibly even with his left arm he still would have lost who knows. He tried to overpower tactic because that was his beat bet. He had more speed and explosive power than Thor did but Thor had the better endurance, basic boxing skill and most importantly the much longer range. I'm not saying he would have won had he not been injured. What I'm saying is he clearly wasn't 100% and would have stood a much better chance. With correct training and enough time I would actually pick Eddie above Thor always seemed slow and slugish. Yes he had good boxing fundamentals but he was slow and never really seemed like he had the heart of a fighter. He nearly lost against a guy allot smaller than him in one of his warmup fights and nearly got knocked out by a very average boxer that was out Off shape as well. He has incredible genetics but lacks that killer instinct in a fight as well as speed. This fight would also have been much better had they both lost at least another 20-30Kgs of mucle mass

Eddie is a GREAT interview!! Has to be the best ambassador of strongman out there, and just an interesting dude regardless. Even though he's retired, he's still the tops. The current batch of guys is kind of lacking, besides Brian and maybe few others. Mitch Hooper is pretty interesting too

@@peachyhue Brian is definitely a good guy and great ambassador. But, he doesn't quite have the personality of Eddie.

@@bt2476 Brian doesn't have the charismatic humor that Eddie has but I'd argue that Brian is the greatest strongman of all time. Not the strongest, not the best, but the greatest. The insight he has, his knowledge, his analytic mind, his understanding of every aspect of the sport, that's worth so much more, as an ambassador for the sport, than witty humor from a too loud mouth and a 500kg deadlift.
@bt2476 Жыл бұрын
@@maxxximum_productions Brian is probably the greatest today. Even though, I think it's tough to argue against his predecessors like Magnus Ver Magnusson and Bill Kazmaier. The amount of contests they won right out the gate were surreal. But hey, Eddie is all those things of course, but it's good for the sport. Strongman is a fun sport, and when have a charismatic and funny individual who is very visible like Eddie, it brings people in. Sort of like Devon Larratt with armwrestling. As far as class act ambassador though, YES, Brian Shaw is the man!

The pressure on him for doing the fight was of his own doing. Had he not had such a big mouth and made all these claims of him being able to beat up Hafthor, no one would've gave a damn. I used to like Eddie, but the truth is there is no rivalry between him and Hafthor. Eddie beat Hafthor in exactly 2 competitions where as Hafthor beat Eddie in 11 competitions. Losing the fight has solidified Hafthor being both the better athlete and the better man.

Simon Sinek Says it best. Life is an Infinite game. Set your goals infinite. Even Moonshots are not good. (ex. WSM) A good goal for Eddy could be. To inspire people to improve their physical game to where they want to go. Focusing on the external infinite purpose in helping other people.

Rob, you should refer Eddie to Teal Swan. 🙏🏽 Eddie, much Love brother. ❤ Anxiety and depression can come from unmet emotional needs as children. Abandonment trauma, attachment styles developed based on our caregivers. We all have unhealed emotional truama that manifests as different levels of emotional issues. This can be healed. You have to mve the energy of the emotions. Thats why people become addicted to the fix. Its becomes a replacement for actually alchemizing the emotional energy. These are defense mechanisms we learn to cope with our wounding. You can heal brother. It takes a new level of self awareness. And facing our own shadow.
