Hey Joe This is Doug here from Hawaii. Just started watching your Vlogs. Love them. You're very lucky to have a beautiful lady like Gift. Are you retired military? I retired from the Marine Corps in 1998 after 30 years. I spent a lot of time there in Thailand doing COBRA GOLD for about 8 years. Love it there! I was planning to move there however I met a gal here in Hawaii from the Philippines while she was visiting family here. Long story short, we bought two lots in a gated community on the golf course outside of Lipa City, Batangas. Both lots are side by side and are 892 square meters each. We're building the first house for her parents and grandmother. We argued a lot....saying it was too expensive.....she has a 3 bd, 11/2 bth in Cavite. She said we can live there. Ahhh NOPE! Too crowded and she deserves better. She has her own clothing boutique. The house should be finished by November. Obviously we've come to an agreement. It's a shock for her never having to deal with so much money. Right now I'm back in Hawaii to do some VA stuff and sell my portion of a security company. So we'll be living very comfortably. She did ask for a swimming pool. Done!!! Anyways.....I'll stop running my mouth. Good luck to you all. Semper Fi.....Doug

Thank you 🙏 for your Service brother. It sounds like you are living the dream and that is what we work hard for all our life. I am not retired military. I retired from an agency within the Department of Defense and my military time is part of my pension (military deposit) that I paid to be added to my years in DOD. Go Army! Stay safe!

Hi Joe, have been to that market many times living in Cha-am and have even purchased some furniture there. But their prices are now pretty over inflated as it becomes more touristy. You are a lot better going to Phrae or Nan, where the prices are so much better, and they ship worldwide as well, unfortunately this market has became a tourist trap my friend, buyer beware, thanks for the video Joe

Shipping and duty taxes to the US could be as much if not more than the cost of the furniture itself. Also, Jim Berry is correct. The wood has been dried and cured out in the open and while there may not be any problems with it as long as it is used in a non-air conditioned space. However, using it in any environment conditioned space will eventually cause it to split and crack. This is not only true of Thai furniture but also wood products originating from China, Taiwan, the Philippines, etc... In the US wood is normally kiln dried unless it comes directly from a logger which may have only let it sit outside for a year or two. The moisture content is is much higher in outside drying than it is in kiln dried wood.

Hi Joe, Gift, The teak furniture is absolutely beautiful and amazingly cheap. I'm not sure how practical the chairs and benches would be but that natural look would enhance any home be it modern or traditional. It's great to see that this is all within 30km. I loved this thanks

Woaw... I've been to Sing Khon border market many times... Mostly to buy cheap Myanmar cigarettes... But I didn't know the furniture was made in Thailand.... 🤔, so you thought me something new... You should have asked the price at the carpenter. Normally this market is only busy on Saturday mornings.

Impressive workmanship and great prices and for teak wood which takes decades to grow. You certainly won’t find it that cheap in the tourist areas and dread to think how much that would cost in the Uk. The bit at the beginning with the dogs reminded me of a dear departed cockney friend of mine who lived in Thailand for over 20 years. He used to feed and adopt some of the village dogs and turned to me one day and said “look, even the facking dogs are looking for a farang” LOL
