My wife and I stayed at the Railay Beach Resort in July 2019. So sad to see that it is closed. There are some very good beaches nearby and Walking Street is great at night. We hope to return there when Thailand re-opens for foreign tourists. Thanks for the video.

When you get back to Ao Nang, check out Hippies restaurant and bar. It’s on the other side of the street from The Beach restaurant you were last time. About 5 minute walk to the right as you face the ocean. Great food and cocktails by a really nice owner. Cool vibes there.

I have enjoyed your videos ever since you hit Thailand. Drone shots are always great. Also the Monk who lives under the rock and that beautiful teak furniture. I have been working for this a very long time and finally tonight is my first night in Bangkok quarantine hotel. Your videos inspired me to sell all my junk and retire in Thailand. Sorry to hear about your sister. Life throws us lots of curve balls. Like your sister’s, those experiences change us forever... now making you uncomfortable on the ocean. I have spent my entire life sailing and have come to only feel safe on the water. 7/10th’s of the earth is covered with water, the remaining 3/10’s is covered with people... water seems less risky. Glad your in a good place, happy and with good people. It’s 3 am and here I am watching your videos and writing... this is a crazy year.

You shouldn't be embarrased to wear a life jacket Joe. A couple did drown on the trip to railay beach in 2017 when their longtail capsized and they weren't wearing life vests.

I have a scary story when i was in year 7 we went on a school trip to Rottnest Island of the coast of Perth a trip that should of toke 45 mins but that day had the biggest storm to hit Perth in the 90s it ending taking 6 hours . Now if the water is not flat i am not going

I like you brother. You are obviously more responsible and down to earth. But a life vest on an open boat is mandatory. Especially a rickety trawler. Even if you can swim , and I was a lifeguard. You must don it. If the boat capsizes people will hit their heads , and nothing else will keep them above water. BTW Im originally from Jersey as well ,Paterson . Then Fairlawn . Then I moved to NYC. I chatted with a lady that kept telling me she lived on an island. But on the map there was no island at all.. In the end she appears to be living on a spot that was only accessible by boat.. (Same as raylay)

No prob, Joe, it was just meant as an FYI. I’ve actually hiked over the headland trail to Railay a few times in years past, it was a pretty sweaty way to go, but absolutely gorgeous. I live in Phuket but own some beach property on Lanta too, one of my partners owns some resorts and pizza joints in Ao Nang and Koh Lanta, so I’m around there a lot. Anyway, tell Chuck that he blew the fishing invitation, we nailed 2 sailfish and a ton of (small but perfect for sashimi) tuna, wahoo and mahi mahi. You guys should get out there!
