When you procrastinate you are more productive because you procrastinate because you have the sensation that you are not ready but if you wait the mind subconciously is working on it, puting all pieces together and trying to figure out how to do it in the most easy way. While you are procrastinating you do another task it is better if the task is repetitive because then the subconscious mind works better for example you can order documents or clean. As I am a painter I paint repetitive patterns, lines and circles. Then in two days you can do the task that you were procrastinating and you will see that you do it effortlessly. And not doing it at the beginning with a lot of subconscious resistance and effort. It happens the same before going to bed then you hink of next day tasks, during the night the mind works on it and the next day, you do the taks with ease.
