Happy you played this one. I was a Petra fan. This was a middle of the road song for them. Dans said it was the happiest moment of his life and Petra was his inspiration for singing. Dans a singer!! It always amazes me that there are so many people around who say they have never heard of a musical group as iconic and accomplished and well known as PETRA. They are true ground breakers in the music industry. They have been performing for 50 years. They are the recipients of numerous awards. They have played on every continent on this planet. They are in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They are literally the Christian equivalent of the Beatles. They have produced and performed massive amounts of the most impressive hard and soft Christian rock you will ever hear in your life. To the trained ear, there is simply no way they can be compared to bands like Stryper. PETRA is on another level entirely and somewhat in a class of its own musically. If you are not familiar with the works of PETRA and you truly have a sincere desire to understand the scriptures and the Christian faith and the Savior that we worship, then I would advise you to start listening to every song by PETRA that you can find out there in the digital world. Keep in mind that their music has been evolving for half a century. They are cross generational. They were a group that shifted gears about every ten years. They consequently changed with the times. They have something for everyone. Every song of theirs is a Bible study of its own. Their singers and musicians have produced some of the most amazing music you will ever hear. It is very introspective music on a spiritual level. The vocals are always easy to understand and they were meant to be that way. Check them out. Unless you are not interested in your own salvation, you will not be disappointed. God Bless You in your search and God Bless PETRA. May their music live on forever.

Wolfman, you are in a home - your home, right there where you belong, making fun little videos with SueSue. Hope you had a great Father’s Day! I had friends that were really into Petra in the 80s. I didn’t really get into them, but heard them and didn’t dislike it. Always kind of thought, they were for the kids that couldn’t/wouldn’t listen to secular music. So, if we see SueSue with a new guitar, we’ll all know what happened! 👀

Petra is doing their 50th anniversary tour right now. John Schlitt is around 72. Great song. Dan was happy! (The big Christian heavy metal band back then was Stryper!) All before Dan was born.

The 70 year old vocalist is John Schlitt from Head East. Dance Away Lover is one of the greatest unheard rock ballads they put out. John’s vocals are outstanding on it. Worth a listen on KZbin.

Head East also did "There's Never Been Any Reason" which awesome. Schlitt & Lawry perform that one whenever playing with the Jay Sekulow Band on fundraiser live stream events along with John Elefante, formerly of Kansas. All members being devout Christians and they sound great.

Petra and Stryper both were awesome. Both still touring even now in their 60s and 70s. Stryper was more metal, but both were amazing and uncompromising in their faith even today. John Schlitt was lead singer of Head East before Petra. You've probably heard their song "There's Never Been any Reason", but never connected Schlitt with them. Still a great song even decades later.
