Yes I've seen a few people do that to their trucks, I wonder how big of a difference it makes! Good luck.

@@OvensGarage You betcha! Super convenient. I have several parts in boxes from them waiting to go on, doing their crossover kit, titan series 205 output shaft and the billet retainers plus some bearings. Super excited to put out some content on it

I found that putting some grease on the seal spring will help it from popping out when installing.

Kind of like glue I guess. Good thinking. Never had that happen to me before.

Do you think the uneven wear and warpage was caused by the previous brake service done by the previous owner not bleeding it properly?

I'm suspecting a bad caliper. After the whole job I've been driving the truck and it still pulls to the left when under braking. I got two new replacement calipers and rubber hoses I'm going to replace this weekend and hopefully that will solve my issue.

Would you happen to know the function of the sleeve that’s attached to the rear drum? I had to swap out my old drums all scorched up.

The studs you have listed the link for amazon. Would they fit a 1989 w250? I got the ones where amazon said would fit but the diameter is small but threads are fine. Please any info is much appreciated!!

Thanks for the video my question is where did you get the brake shoes my RV is on a m300 chassis I believe it's a Dana 70 rear end I was told they don't make the brake shoes anymore where did you get yours?

Too lazy to check comments but.. I usually let the bearings and shoes bed for a few hundred km before doing my adjustments so they have time to take the shape of the drum and races so I don't have to do it twice.

How did you change the cylinder on the right side without opening the hydraulic system? Never touch a wheel bearing without cleaning and repacking them. Harbor Freight has good wooden handle ball peen hammers for $7.00.
@OvensGarage
@OvensGarage 2 жыл бұрын
Didn't change out the wheel cylinders. The axle seal on the right side was leaking, I changed that. Those wheel bearings ride in the axle lube and don't need re-packed. Just inspected, re-lubricated with gear oil, then re-installed.

I went to my local parts store and was able to find them. If I don't have them linked in the description of this video try searching for them on Amazon.

Um, that little cable is your brake adjuster, not the emergency brake cable.

Another good service video ! Thanks Tyler. By the way. I've had an issue with the right seal as well going out/leaking and have heard several other's mention this being a problem on our 1st Gen dana's. Did you have to use a different seal to stop the leak on the Pass side or did you use the same seal and sleeve ?. Curious. Thanks.
@OvensGarage
@OvensGarage 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Ron! I ended up just cleaning the sleeve with some paper towel to make sure the surface was clean and then put a new seal into the drum. It's not leaking anymore!

Another thing is to check the vent tubes to make sure they aren't plugged because sometimes they can blow out the seals if the vent tube is plugged.

If i set my drum barring retaing nut at 120 foot pounds, my drum won't even spin. The dealership said it's feeling not tork. I closed my eyes and spinned the drum while i set the barring preload with finesse. I could have really messed my truck up with your advice.
@OvensGarage
@OvensGarage 2 жыл бұрын
The setting I did was not advice. It was directly from the Factory Service Manual. 120ft lbs and then back it off 120 degrees from that point. Then if you have the correct tool to check the end play you can check the end play but most people don't.

You’re doing a good job you just need to use a lot heavier hammer than you have a great big brass hammer or a big ball peen or something way way heavier and you won’t have to hit it as hard and it’ll tap right in place
