When bending the line put Weedwhacker line in the line to keep it from collapsing.

So I love copper alloy brake line. That’s all I use. It’s nice and soft and it bends by hand.

This poly armour stuff was great to work with and super cheap. I loved that it had pre flared ends it made for a very quick and easy install. We will see how they hold up over time!

Proportioning valve could be going out & causing the front brakes to be driver side dependent

I've been having the same issue. My brakes were good before I touched them. I've replaced everything same as you. But the pulling while braking started on the passenger side, I changed the calipers then it went the driver side. I can smell some hot brake smell but its not very hot to the touch. Its gotta be grabbing one side harder. And it squeaks a little bit. Only thing I can think of is bleeding the brakes again, trying different brand pads. Other than that what else could it be? Mastercylinder? The pulling isn't horrible unless im hitting the brakes hard. I'm still looking though. I hope you figure it out so I can watch the how to video. Lol.
@OvensGarage2 жыл бұрын
It definitely has me stumped! I'm worried my tires may also be causing the issue...my next step is I'm going to swap my front and rear tires and check the toe alignment again. Maybe even take it to get an alignment to see how far out everything is.

@@Jordy40Growing I switched my fronts to the rear. Maybe the upper kingpin bushings have gone out. I think this truck has seen a lot of logging roads so I wouldn't be surprised. I might replace the upper bushings and springs.
@Jordy40Growing2 жыл бұрын
@@OvensGarage cool. Yea I’ve replaced the king pins and bushing. Lower bearings, leaf spring bushings, tie rods. Welded up the notorious frame crack behind the steering gear, welded the front leaf hanger to the frame. So basically everything is new. But I think your right about the logging rough logging roads. I took my truck into a creek and did some donuts in the sand and it’s never been the same lol.

How About the stock ABS unit located At the rear axle I believe it controls the rear Axle generally . Did you bleed it as well as it has a Bleed Screw too ! With the front axle could the opposite Side Caliper might not be griping as strong As the side ? Perhaps !! Keep up the Good Work Happy July 1st !!

It actually ended up being my tires. I rotated them and it fixed the problem

You didn't grease the caliper contact points, that's going to make things worse in a hurry. These calipers on the old 1st gen are ancient technology, and are NOT designed to be neglected. Things will deteriorate in a hurry when exposed to dirt, salt, water, etc... The least you can do is try to make them work as best as possible, since they're crap to begin with...

im having the exact same issue but im rear wheel drive so no king pin and i just had an alinement after getting new tires unless they lied and didnt do an alinement but my symptoms first started when i repacked my bearings im thinking its the brake pads themselves since i had to pull them off and maybe they are seizing somehow but i may just replace them and see if that fixes it.
@OvensGarage2 жыл бұрын
You wouldn't think that new brakes would do that!

@@OvensGarage and the irritating issue is i havent installed new hardware but im thinking maybe somehow i damaged the master or the booster when i compressed the caliper since it is 32 years old and when you touch one thing a million other problems crop up. or hell it could be as simple as that one guy said about the parking brake engaging the rear brakes sooner since i have adjusted my drum brakes recently but havent done the parking brake adjustment. But these videos are always nice to watch its cool to see people like you wont bring something straight to the shop because its a head scratcher.

@@OvensGarage interesting I'm going to rotate mine in the morn see if it fixes it and check my tire wear see if they really did an alignment like they said they did but it seems to be a common problem of these trucks pulling to the left at least in this comment section but my theory is that these old trucks are cursed with these tiny problems that get solved by dancing around it a few times a offering a sacrifice. Hell I had a bolt missing from my tranny yoke and I put in a new bolt and the head broke off so I put a nut on it and was bout to weld it and grabbing my helmet I knocked a brand new bottle of schnapps I just got off the table and made a mess but after that it went smooth as can be. Wouldn't it pull all of the time though instead of just under braking conditions? Front and rear brakes were all just done. The truck pulled even before the brake job.

@@ram_diesel_power6039 I'll take a look. I wouldn't think that the rear brake would pull me to one side but I guess you never know. I jacked the front end up today and pried things around checking the king pins, tie rods, drag link and pitman arm. Everything is pretty tight. I'll jack the rear up tomorrow and see if the e brake drags on one side.
@bcbloc022 жыл бұрын
@@OvensGarage Back brakes can for sure cause a pull. If you can get someone to help you jack up the rear and spin one side while someone else gradually pushes on the brake until you feel a strong drag then go turn the other side with them holding the pedal still and see if it feels the same. If not adjust accordingly.
