Perfectly timed video as I've got 4 of these to do in the near future.

I watched your video on replacing the rear brakes on that blue truck b/c I needed to do the same to mine. At that time, it still had the nylock nuts on it. Much to my surprise, mine actually had the double nut with tabbed washer when I pulled everything apart. I almost replaced it with a nylock b/c I had the right sized socket for it, but decided to stay with the double nut set-up instead. I did, however, have to buy that special socket that fits those nuts for $45. Kinda pricey, but so is everything else on these 1st Gen's. Nice video brother.

I think there's a couple different style locking nuts you can get but my thought is if you have a 4wd you may as well make it the same as the front so you have the same tool and procedure for torque specs.

I prefer the ratchet nuts....lot better system

Nice I was wondering about the torque spec since mine is 2wd it's different on the front. I bought the same locking nuts/washer on rockauto because I have my 9/16 studs I want to install on the rear as well. I installed 9/16 studs last year on the front, but have been procrastinating on taking the drums apart want to check out the shoes and replace both the wheel seals as well.

I was kind of surprised I replaced my wheel seals when I did my rear drum brakes less than 2 yrs ago but the right rear must have been leaking. It was a mess in there greasy oil everywhere. Turns out I must have pinched the seal installing it because there was a bite out of the seal.

Got my new electronic snap on torque wrench for christmas so would be a good time to put it to use.

I could have used one of those today. I've got a good rebuild vid on the powr lok I'm releasing tomorrow. One of the tests involves jacking up one of the wheels and using a torque wrench but my craftsman one only goes to 150ft lbs.

@@OvensGarage oh sweet sounds like a good video and yea thats what my click type torque wrench goes up to also. I'm gonna need the snap on one it goes to 300ft lbs could use even a bigger torque wrench because my career is moving foward working on Semis as a Diesel technician.
