I think fighters just need to learn to say no. Do not succumb to the pressure. DDP said no to title shot against Izzy because it was too soon. Arman said no to title shot against Islam because it was too soon. It's looking like Ankalaev is gonna lose the title shot against Poatan because he doesn't want to fight sooner. It sounds bad, it really isn't. DDP still got the title shot against Strickland. Arman is still getting the next title shot if Islam stays 155 or moves up. Ankalaev will still probably fight the champ whoever it is come october. If Aljo says no, ufc will probably make Suga vs whoever as the interim champ. Fans would probably side with Aljo because it hasn't been that long to warrant making an interim belt. Then when Aljo is all healed up, he can fight the new champ to be undisputed. It's really not that big of a deal to say no.

Regardless of whether or not the ufc told aljo about the fight before or after the announcement. If aljo was injured then he ahould’ve let the ufc know he can’t fight behind closed doors and the fight would be cancelled due to undisclosed injury. Dana bashed aljo because he publicly revealed he wasn’t ready when the fight was already on. As dana said you’re either in or out. There’s no point in letting the public know you aren’t 100% when you’re booked for a fight. It would only hurt sales.

If you wanna wear the strap you fight anyone anywhere you are told. That's why the champ gets PPV points because the expectation is higher than a contender. It was business. The UFC hedged their bet and it paid off. Aljo should be thankful for the check he got as a result of Sean's popularity but instead he continues to publicly vent his emotions which has been polarizing. It's not a good look to complain after a loss. How about giving it up for Sean who was also fighting injured, and had Aljo had a better game plan, that injury could have been exploited, but Aljo got slept in a moment that immediately went viral. Aljo had a good run, but many believe his reign to be cursed because of how things played out the night he came into possession of the bantam weight title. When he complains like this it sounds like sour grapes and a lack of gratitude for all the PPV checks he cashed as champ. Good luck in the new weight class Aljo, I hope that you are better prepared the next time the boss wants to challenge you, otherwise risk being someone else's stepping stone.
