Dana dahlquist can you expand on “let it go” don’t create power with hands at about 13-14 minute mark? ... I typically feel like I am “handle dragging” ... love your style of teaching !! Thanks to both of you

You want lag too but you don't want to try to get lag. It should happen as a result of proper movements. I love the way Dana explains the swing movements!

It baffles me that your channel doesn’t get more views. The amount of value you are delivering is insane. I think it shows the importance of social/entertainment and how people get emotionally connected or something along those lines. These talks tend to be more conceptual which has been super important for my development. I’ve improved more in the last 3 years than the prior 20 years. And it’s solely bc your channel has changed my concepts of what I’m actually doing. Mostly due to Mike Malaska.

In my opinion, his channel doesn't get more views becauses he tends to talk over all the great coaches he gets. Personally, I'm here to list to Dana, NOT the host. But the host doesn't seem to grasp the concept of listening to the coach. Full disclosure, I've taken lessons from Dana and he is fantastic. My approach is to listen to what Dana says I need to do to improve, impliment it in my swing and wait for his feedback. Continually talking over him doesn't work for me.

@@golfrep2584 I get it. He feels the need to have the conversation to understand the details. A lot of Brandon’s comments are about giving interpretations and example where the coach can say no or yes and give more detail. But do you really think if he didn’t talk at all the views would drastically change? I doubt it. It’s more of an indication of what drives people to watch something.

Wow. This is such an unbelievable explanation of the end game of a “Golf Swing”, impact, gotta love some D-Plane Spin Loft talk. You know you’re a golf nerd when.... Dana Dahlquist, wasn’t familiar with him, definitely moved up the list on guys I want to hear more instruction from. Would love to pick his brain more on the “match up ranges”. Love that dynamic, be an athlete approach (like Milo) Dana had!

At about 15:00 what does he mean by just let it go? Does he want you to unhinge the wrists in the initial down swing? He said you were dragging the hands down - would pulling the arms down pinned against your chest with your rotation and letting the release happen naturally (quiet hands) be considered dragging the hands? Or does he want active hands in the transition/down swing

Good question Brandon. One of the questions I'd like to see these "top" instructors tackle is and I think it's related to yours, why are golfers taught to stand and swing the golf club with their feet placed in a parallel line to their intended target? Since the human body isn't anatomically built to function like that? We never position our body like that to do anything even remotely athletic, not to throw, swing a bat, shoot a gun, shoot a free throw, etc, etc, etc. Our feet position have nothing to do with the direction a ball goes and when we are instinctively being athletic they are staggered (either open or closed) to an intended direction.

Even though the golf shaft raises from address it is still pointing on the target line plane. That really is the secret having the shaft always point to target line throughout the swing only 2 places is shaft not on target line but parallel , not to make things more confusing but having the club face perpendicular to the target line is a must for straight shots. keep your pressure to the ground in your heels will prevent you from coming over the top..

Swing plane is shown in 2D and that's the reason it doesn't function properly in a dynamic 3D action. Time and Space Continuum. It's hard to teach magic but Dana is very close. Special stuff for sure.

its all in the right shoulder during transition to allow the club to drop, shoulder goes from a high position to a lower externally rotated position while the body is turning - causing the club to shallow.

I'm solved the swing. I Created a model in my head and a Cipher. What gets me is all these golf instructors looking at the concensus of what all the other instructors are doing. They are all faking it. When I come out with the true model they will all say WHO are you. It's all about image to them. I'm not sure how to bring it out to the world without it being stolen. They will take it and fake it just like they do now.

This took forever for him to answer the question, and he got it wrong to boot. Rotation plus being in a good position at the top doesn’t shallow the club. What shallows the club is being in a good position at the top, a little bit of trail wrist extension, and LATERAL movement/slide toward target-side. Early rotation sends the weight of the club out in front of the hands. The elements I mentioned get the club head down to the elbow plane whilst remaining behind the hands.

Dana has taught me a ton that actually helps. Dana isn’t like other teachers in that they teach you a single part of the swing with one tip. “Act like you’re throwing your arms to the ground on the backswing.” It’s not about these singular pieces of advise. Dana is about teacher how the swing works in its entirety, which is right. It’s a sustained motion from start to stop, you need to understand how the chain of dynamics work in the swing.
