They cancelled Dricus, gave Adesanya in what they thought would be a easy defense; build him up further, make him break the Anderson records. But it all blew up in their faces and now they're being soy about it. Sean really nailed them all. The UFC game cover curse strikes again. Delicious.

Its weird because both DDP and Strickland are super marketable and Im pretty sure more UFC fans can identify with those two than with nailpolish-wearing, dog-wanking, 'for-china' izzy.

@@phalanger1dana is just a pawn of the agenda that is being pushed, the woke agenda. Adesanya has a big influence on moral destruction by bringing the woke agenda. that's what keeps companies keep supported by those in power. It was actually disgusting how not a single word of appreciation was spoken about Sean. The only positive thing I can find is that the actual MMA fan base is way more honest and unbiased than the entire UFC entourage and official reporters. This will not take anything away from what Sean has done. He put up a masterclass that will live for the ages.

I agree and that's part of what makes rooting for people like Sean fun. He represents the people and keeps it real, while Dana represents the evil empire that artificially pushes fighters he deems the most marketable so he can grow his business empire even more. It’s because Sean Strickland is completely unmarketable. Mainstream media and sponsors (Monster aside) won’t touch him with a 10-foot pole. The focus always has to be on Adesanya because he’s a much better look when it comes to sponsorship and the media being that he is far less outspoken than Sean, doesn’t hold as controversial views as Sean does and is also a minority and an immigrant. He checks all the boxes for sponsors and the media in terms of the type of person they want to promote. I can’t say that I’m surprised to see them coping.

Strickland had all of the excuses not Izzy. He took the fight short notice, passport issues, everyone counted him out, first ever title fight jitters, had a brutal weight cut, jet lagged, fighting in the champs "hometown" etc.etc.etc. Also, Izzy didn't even stay in the octagon post fight to speak to his home town aussy crowd! Every time a champ loses their belt and doesn't get KO'd they always talk to them last so they can address their fans, talk about the loss, what's next etc. And they do that even in a different city or country whereas this was in Australia! Izzy just stormed out of the octagon and couldn't be bothered. Then he didn't even do the post fight press conference which every other loosing champion ALWAYS does! It was pathetic and disgraceful! And NOONE is talking about this! Also, Izzy literally lost 2 out of his last 3 fights and before that went the distance with Jared, Robert, Marvin, and lost to Jan in the previous 4 fights before that! How the F do people think he's a dominant champ or even compares to Anderson Silva? Seriously! I have no idea how he got this reputation. And I didn't even mention the Joel Romero fight if you can even call it that. Also, Strickland's knockdown in the first round 100% made Izzy respect his power which made him hesitant, gun shy and doubt himself for the rest of the fight. THAT'S WHAT HAPPENED! It wasn't an off night for Izzy! Strickland was just that good! And Izzy 100% underestimated him. I've never seen Izzy more confident in a fight week, in interviews and even during the walk out in my life! And you CANNOT say Izzy is good at taking losses anymore. He ran out of the octagon in his "home" country and didn't do the post fight press conference! It was disgraceful! Also we need to stop censoring the F bomb, that's a beautiful word!

@@Vitamin_jp I have always found Izzy’s fights to be extremely boring point fights. That’s just my opinion, his cards are the only cards I’ve ever skipped. He’s not a bad fighter but I think the people that really Stan him are more dazzled by him as a person, the drama & theatrics, not necessarily his fighting. All of my friends that don’t watch mma (but I force them to watch with me😆) always comment on how boring his fights are. Again, just my subjective opinion. He’s lost 2 of his last 3 fights and Sean beat him dominantly last night, a rematch doesn’t make sense. It did in the Alex fight because Izzy was winning, the same can’t be said for 293. Time to keep the division moving, endless immediate rematches for Izzy (or any fighter for that matter) is boring.

I think what people need to understand is that holding the belt is much more difficult than taking it. Jon Jones had an interview where he described fear as being your most dangerous weapon. Sean did look fearful in the walkout, and he even said himself his expectations were through the roof for what he expected to have to deal with in this fight. That worked in his favor i believe, his senses were at an all time high and he was so locked in. I hope he can keep it going, but i do see a fight with Dricus playing out much more difficult for him

Dude again with the brainless Silva comparison 😂 I'm not a israel fan but you people are genuinely stupid af for how much you overhype Silva. He got a title shot off of ONE WIN OVER CHRIS F'N LEBEN LMAO. Israel beat 6 guys in a row to get a title shot and they were ALL better than Chris Leben by far. Silva won his belt off Rich Franklin, a guy who would get mollywhopped by any top fighter today. Silva was great but his division sucked. You guys trash 185 for being a weak division now, do you have any idea how much worse it was back then?... Guys like Whittaker, DDP, and Pereira would have torn through those mfs like nothing. Silva dominated a weaker era of the sport and had the easiest path to the title you could ask for. It's like how khabib and DJ went on the same win streak (13) but DJ gets praised as the goat for having 11 defenses and khabib gets ridiculed for having only 3. Reality is, khabib had to beat 9 guys in a row in the best division to get a shot at the belt. DJ beat IAN MCCALL AND NOBODY ELSE to get a title shot in a brand new division that wasn't stacked at all yet. Can't just compare title defenses. That's childish. There's more context than that. Khabibs 13 fight win streak was clearly over better competition than DJs 13 fight win streak and he was more dominant in the process. Not his fault he had to put in 9x the work to get a title shot.

Strickland had all of the excuses not Izzy. He took the fight short notice, passport issues, everyone counted him out, first ever title fight jitters, jet lagged etc.etc.etc.

Adesanya came in with the same gameplan that he usually uses when he’s the champ. Throwing jabs and kicks, moving against the cage trying to find counters. Sean had it all figured out. Sean pressured izzy against the cage taking away his kicks since he’s moving backwards and isn’t really able to plant his feet and the only way izzy could keep Sean away was throwing his jab which Strickland was countering numerous times. This then left Izzy with no other choice but to let Sean throw a strike so he can counter it, but Sean was feinting and baiting Izzy to counter him which then lead Sean to landing counters of his own. Other than that Izzy couldn’t do much since every part of his plan got compromised after the second round

Yep, it's why he has had so many boring fights where it's a staring contest. And after those fights Izzy and his wonderful fans blamed it on the opponent for not taking the fight to Izzy and making it exciting. Well Izzy, you got exactly what you wanted, someone that would be aggressive and come at you. What happened?

It really baffled me as an Izzy fan that he kept trying to stick normal gameplan when it was clear after 2 rounds that it wasn’t working against Sean. The same would never happen with Volk or Anderson Silva. I’ve always rated Volk’s striking better than Izzy but I thought Izzy was equal to Anderson Silva…clearly I’ve been overrating Izzy’s striking too much.

Dana has said Tony looked like he was in slow motion in one of his losses as well. Sometimes he just says that when a dominant fighter gets smoked. He doesnt want to bash on them as the head of the UFC, plus it helps build narratives which he loves cause it means money. But if he really doesn’t want Sean as champ then give em DDP cause he wud destroy em and wudda dismantled Izzy anyways.

What really blew my mind was how Well Sean's defense made Izzy's striking unsuccessful & unable to land any flush strikes. I was surprised that izzy didn't make any adjustments & approach things differently/change things up, anything, but Izzy has sorta been stuck in this same fighting approach & it's totally opposite from his style bender name and in my opinion that's the way izzy will find success again is if he reconnects to his Style diversity roots. Utilize all weapons, try whatever unfolds in a fight instead of just sticking to a structured "gameplan" idk... That's just what it seems from the outside looking in.. best of wishes to each guy.

Been saying this after his 1st win over rob Izzy stopped fighting the way he used to as a contender. He used so many different techniques now it's just jab, leg kick, high kick, left hook counter and 1-2. Not saying it would make a difference, sean won fair and square, maybe he rang Izzys Bell too Hard Or just took away his confidence after the knockdown, I don't like izzy as a person but as a fighter I like him and was surprised he couldn't make any adjustments in a striking match.

I think I saw an interview where he said he called himself style bender because he was really good at grappling quickly when trying it after kickboxing and before transitioning into MMA. But it's kind of funny though because in that case literally any MMA fighter could be called stylebender as they all have to learn some striking and grappling to succeed.

For real, these days he just leans on his rangefinding style because it was a reliable method and it kept him safe. Lateral movement, switch stances, hip feints, control the hands, then he finds the distance and waits for his opponent to enter it. By the time he actually throws it's already set up for him, and now it's like he's become completely unwilling to engage if it's not on those terms. Strickland shut that entire approach down with a simple teep kick and Izzy couldn't adapt. He's become way too reliant on that style, and his ego is too big to risk any more than he has to for another win. His team literally had the adjustments for him in between rounds but once he nearly got KO'd in RD1 it was a done deal. I genuinely think his mind was caught up on how he'd be perceived if he got finished by Strickland, and any new adjustments increased that risk so he refused to make them. He absolutely had the skills to win on Saturday, I literally can't think of any other explanation for why he'd choose to fight the exact same way for the whole 25 minutes when it was never working.

That knockdown in first round definitely changed the trajectory of the fight . Izzy was not expecting Sean to be so good . I actually picked Sean winning a decision like a week prior lol knew he would be able to get it done . Gotta give Sean all the credit man , he did everything perfect to break Izzy down . can tell UFC loves their frosted tips and being feminine and of course their gonna Make excuses for him . But Now we got a real American man as champion. Glad Sean brought it back to the states . Let's fkn go!!
