Then in the actual fight, he outclassed him in striking alone with 0 takedowns, becomes the first person to knock him down whilst having 'pillowfists', made izzy land only 34% of his strikes (the lowest in his mma career) landed the most significant strikes on him in mma, schooled him with a 1-2 and teep throughout the whole fight, beat izzy who is supposed to be the best striker in the world at his own game without even shooting for one takedown. Izzy got outclassed by the guy that was supposed to be his easiest fight, the guy who has the iCarly stance 😂😂. I think that Israel's comment to Dana in the ring after the fight suggesting he had something to say that would explain his performance & loss along with what he did at the press conference were attempts to buy time to allow for a believable narrative to be crafted that would somehow explain this poor performance, secure an immediate rematch, and limit the amount of negative criticism and analysis or breakdowns of his performance. The few things that have floated out such as Strickland being on juice and Adesanya's busy schedule might have been the best that they had and decided to use people like Usman to introduce them into the post fight discussions. It could also have been a tactic to stall criticism for a few days knowing that the UFC news cycle moves fast and by Tuesday much of the focus would be on the Contender Series and then focused on the next UFC fight card. Whatever the excuse or potential PR strategy, the MMA World has developed a much clearer picture of who Israel Adesanya actually is rather than the living god he desires to be perceived as.
