He has to step on some throats and have a fork tongue. His Chinese owners and investors want dividends at the end of the year and have quotas that needs to be fulfilled. They are also being sued so court, legal fees cost a pretty penny and they have to plan for the worst. So he's always worried about money.

Dana was only respectful to the PFL because they are partnered with ESPN. He would've usually went on a 10 minute tirade just blasting the PFL for what that CEO has been doing in the past with how he handles business. PFL vs UFC is 100% something that can eventually happen if ESPN promises a very lucrative % to the UFC. PFL just needs a few more stand-out stars and I think we will see that in the next coming years. A lot of fighters who were not contracted because they lost on the contender series or got a decision have done amazing and they'll become units with a vengeance at a certain point. Then PFL vs UFC is a reality.
