I think most fans would rather see a competitive fight. Alex has shown a wrestling weakness. He got controlled by Jan on the ground and even got taken down by Izzy. Jon’s bigger and stronger and has been wrestling all his life and is looking to exploit Alex’s weakness en route to another paycheck. The Tom Aspinall fight is the one to make.

Alex was severely dehydrated in the Izzy fight and still won that fight. And Jan is a high level grappler and Alex still won that fight. Alex has never been in danger on the ground. And he’s the same size as jones. Also Jones has never faced a world class striker with the power to boot.

@@jessie7339jessie but the Jan fight was still competitive. Jan won the first round and was doing well in the third (tho I still gave it to Alex). Jan is not a world class grappler like Jon. He even was submitted by 42 year old Glover. Jan is a good grappler but Jon is a great one. Check out the fight odds for Jon vs Alex. It’s a cartoonish 7 to 1. I get why Jon wants Alex. He wants the less risky opponent who appears to have a grappling weakness. Jon don’t wanna end his career on a loss and there’s a far greater chance that against Tom.

Alex knows that he will have to completely improve his skills to beat Jon Jones and that includes take down defense and his ground game...but for now it's how much heavier Jon Jones is than Alex. If they both were at 225 this fight would have a date already
