Saarebas: "If you force choice, it is not choice" Me: "Well that sounds a lot like the Qun to me"

No, the Qun doesn't force you to choose not to kill yourself. That is the point of Saarebas. From the Qun's PoV; you choose to exist or not to exist, and if you choose to exist you must not think of yourself and your ego, you are beholden to others and (Qunari) society as a whole, hence their role assignment, which isn't just foisted upon you like feudal class or caste. To choose not to follow what (they consider) your strengths, to live your life to its most useful, and instead pine for something that doesn't suit you and you will never achieve is absurd and alien to them. Hence Sten's confusion about "Farmers that wish to be Merchants" To choose to think of yourself and your own ego, your own pride, your own greed, it is tantamount to denying existence and choosing not to exist in Qunari eyes. So it is better to kill yourself and not needlessly waste effort and lives for something you have practically chosen to do already. It is hard to grasp for us, as we live in a Liberal Individualist society, but it *does* make sense once you let go of our own ideologies. Not to agree with it of course, I am not a fan of the Qun's rigid stratification from the age of 12! Banning love too is kinda... bad. But I am not Qunari, naturally, I cling to my non-Qun beliefs ;P
