@@ladyselin35 Nah. The game series goes out of its way to make Liara official Shepard wife. She's the only character you have romance scenes with in all three games. You can stay faithful to Kaidan or Ash and get a letter from them in ME2, but Liara "saves" Shepard, gets a romantic scene with them, and gets a complete character makeover to make her a super powerful social manipulator in direct contrast with her entire personality from ME1 in ME2. And an end scene in ME3 where you mind meld with her regardless of your romance choices (something only ever shown as romantic in the first two games.) Game desperately wants you to be with Liara and short shrifts everyone else to make her the "canon" choice. (I'm not saying this as a Liara lover, quite the opposite. The way the games railroad Liara make me romance anyone else other than her because I hate when games pretend to have romance choices, yet railroad you towards the ones they prefer.)

A lot of people condemn her because she doesn't want to immediately get on board with Xenophiles, and considering how her family got screwed because of the First Contact War, it's totally understandable. The Turians went "Shoot first, ask questions later" on the humans who were attempting to open an uncharted Mass Relay, instead of initiating communications and informing said humans that they were in breach of galactic law. The whole First Contact War could've been avoided if Turian command wasn't so gun-happy. Now, I don't know about the rest of you, but if a species was willing to put a bullet in my head over a parking ticket, I'd be a little cautious around them too.

Javik's one hurts a lot considering he isn't a romance option. All I see is a warrior who's slept and waited for 50,000 years to avenge the souls of his fallen brothers... and injury sidelines him right at the most critical moment of the battle. He has to watch the fate of the galaxy unfold from the sidelines. In the end, his presence on the battlefield won't be the defining factor between victory or defeat. He's overcome with grief not because of loss or a broken heart, but of the realization of his own insignificance.

I strongly disagree, Shepard survived that long because his allies, he's a super soldier yeah, but also human he could've died many times but their companions saved his life many times, and if you talk with Javik enough you can see he respects Shepard even if he disagree with Shepard's decisions or philosophy (if Shepard is Paragon) but still he follows him and respect Shepard's orders. it's sad because the way he looks Shepard isn't frustration or anger, is just the sadness of seeing a friend/comrade running alone to the death like probably Javik have seen many times in the past. Even more when Shepard use Paragon dialogue. And if at that point you don't let Javik touch the memory shard-- he talks about his plans for the future, writing a book with Liara or living like a king with the Hanar. Regardless everything he says that it was a privilege to serve him. I think that your comment can be true if you let him touch the memory shard.

Yep, stick with Miranda for ME3 and all we got was that hologram message. It wasn't bad (she seems to be most affectionate of all), but it just doesn't have the same impact. Picked Ashley for second play and ... kinda disappointing. There isn't much difference between "friend Ash" and "romanced Ash". There's like two extra lines and brief sex scene, but that's about it. She pretty much acts the same. Miranda at least acts slightly differently toward you based on whatever you romanced her or not. She's more relaxed, witty and flirty in scenes if you romanced her in ME2, and bit more private and distant if you did not. She shows great respect for you either way.

The Javik goodbye is kind-of sad. The once called "Primitive" was his only real friend after he lost his entire race, and you can tell he didn't want him to die as Shepherd didn't want him to die either despite Javik not caring for his own life. Ash's romance was the most powerful, her "With all due respect..." line was a fantastic callback to her most remembered phrase from ME1. Really felt like time went full circle with that one. Especially her line about her saying she can do this too, again to show her growth from doubting herself and her Williams curse from ME1. So much went wrong 3 but in this moment, they nailed it perfectly. Beautifully done.
