Well, if they splitted, it doesn't mean they have conflict and hate each other. It may simply be some business issues. For example it is better to open two different grappling schools: one John's and one Gordon's. They will make more money this way, because they both are huge brand names.

For the sport of bjj it was the best thing they could of done. They split but b team still trains the same and applies the methods that John taught them. They can face each other in comp and make the sport even more hype. The thought of former DDS members facing off In many of the weight division finals of ADCC would be a great way to bring discussion around bjj again. I think even though they split they did it with the thought that "it's business" but still remain good friends. The high level of trolling from both camps makes things so much more entertaining imo

However, as someone who´s been doing Jiu Jitsu for some years and also plays chess recreationally, I can assure you: both take fundamentally different kinds of skill, knowledge and intelligence. There is basically zero transfer from chess to Jiu Jitsu and vice versa. Being good at one does not give you the slightest idea of how to perform the other.
