This is the second in our One Hour Better series! So thankful for those who are willing to share their clutter with the internet! We work through my decluttering process from Decluttering at the Speed of Life ( www.aslobcomesclean.com/book ) and the difference in an hour is amazing! Just think how much faster we could have worked without all my yakking!

While I've been bingeing your videos, I decluttered my desk. I plugged in my new pencil sharpener, still in the box and on the desk for six months, and threw out the broken one. A two minute job that I'd put off for six months. I wish I was kidding.

My notes: 1. Trash 2. Take it to it's home, NOW! 3. "Duh/dust" stuff >📦 Donatable box 4. Homeless stuff? A. Where would you look first? Take it! B. Don't know? Would you even know you had this? No? Donate! 5. Make it fit the space "container concept". A. Sort, consolidate. B. Get rid of duplicates, cherry pick faves, make it fit the available space.

My DH has a new table in the hall for all his 'stuff' - phone, glasses, bills, bits and bobs. It magically appeared one day. All his stuff magically got moved to the new table. The dining room table was miraculously cleared and thus it has been ever since. Every day, the dining room table becomes cluttered with his stuff, then miraculously cleared and stuff appears on his new table. He's so curious about this phenomenon that he continues to test it daily. The fairy that clears it would like to move onto other tasks and is wondering if adding a spike ring around the dining room table is too much.............................yeah, too much, right? Seriously, though. I cannot believe how many logs I have removed from my own eye in this decluttering process. And in such a short time each day! You have motivated me to not view it as a massive job and that perspective change has made it all possible. In a month, my bathroom, hall table, and guest room have been decluttered. As you suggested, I am doing the easy, visible stuff first. Boxes and bags of stuff have been flying out of here every weekend! It feels amazing! Thank you Dana!

I’m sharing this with a friend but adding one footnote: Dana advocates not getting off track by starting to declutter another area-the starting to work in the bathroom could have derailed the dresser task.
@stowie5790
@stowie5790 3 жыл бұрын
I agree that, for some, it is easy to get derailed when going from place to place. I allowed myself some grace when first decluttering, especially when feeling overwhelmed. Just focusing on giving everything a home worked wonders for me. Now I do a daily 2-5 minutes tidy/declutter for each room and it helps to keep my chaos from running amok!
